Deputies Searching for Missing McDowell County Woman

WELCH -- McDowell County deputies are searching for a woman who's been missing five days.
Deputies said Jami Rice, 25, of Welch called her family on Sunday and said she was on her way home from Bluefield.

Investigators said she hasn't been seen or heard from since.

I checked the weather for that day. It was snowing and the temps never got over 15 degrees. She would have been driving over 30 miles through the mountains. I hope they checked the road she took carefully in case she had an accident. Schools all across the state were closed Monday morning and have been all week because the weather has been so bad.

Rice is described as a white woman with brown hair and eyes. She is 5-foot-7-inch and weighs approximately 140 pounds.

Rice was driving a metallic blue Ford Focus with the West Virginia license number 5LG-708.

Anyone with information about her disappearance is urged to contact the McDowell County Sheriff's Department at 304-436-8523.

Deputies said they are treating Rice's disappearance as suspicious.

Can anyone find a myspace for this girl? There is a comment on another forum that she's logged in on her myspace on the 5th. And that they have a person of interest. Can't find any news report to back it up.

Just ran thru MS and saw several listings for a Jami Rice, but they seem to be of other Jami's. 2 I saw listed with no city/state but ages seem to be off and they haven't logged into their accounts for some time.

Maybe one of those other Jami accounts is of her but has age/home listed as something other than what it really is?

Police search for missing Welch woman

According to Chief Deputy Mark Shelton with the McDowell County Sheriff's Department, 25-year-old Jami Kathleen Rice has been missing since January 3.

Inmates information is no longer available once they are released.

Sounds like she was involved in something she shouldn't have been.

I still can't find a myspace page for her.

Weather was not good the day she went missing. I am not sure the distance between towns, how far she had to travel.

According to ask.com the distance between Bluefield and Welch is 23.0 miles
