An 87-year-old man from Rawdon, Que., who has been missing since Tuesday morning, has been found alive.
Woldymyr Mazepa was found by a resident in Saint-Justin, a small village just west of Trois-Rivières around 10:20 a.m. ET Thursday morning.
Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Benoit Richard said Mazepa was found standing beside his car, which was stuck in a ditch on the side of one of the village's roads.
Mazepa, who recently immigrated to Quebec from the Ukraine and speaks no French and little English, was in a confused state, Richard said.
Police have no idea how he ended up there or how long his car was stuck in the ditch, Richard said.
Mazepa was reported missing Tuesday around noon after he went shopping but never returned home.
After an alert was issued, Richard said police got a report that Mazepa's car had been spotted Wednesday morning on Highway 416 in the Ottawa region.
It is not yet known how or why Mazepa was in Ontario, Richard said.
Mazepa has been taken to a hospital in Louiseville where he is now being treated.
