I agree; once you get out of the vicinity of the river, most roads are forest service roads of varying degrees of quality. Most are unpaved, and while they are usually passable in a non-4WD vehicle, things like weather, gates, or maintenance issues may make the road impossible to use. And you certainly can't drive very fast, since the roads are usually twisty and steep (not to mention the potholes...). Also note that most of the roads that have access to Table Mountain are on the opposite side of the mountain from the Pacific Crest Trail as shown in your (very helpful!) screenshot.

Does anyone know where Katherine Huether was born? Which state?

I see her birthday was the day she disappeared. The 23rd birthday?

They've apparently announced they are calling off the search:

I just found a later interview with the landlord and he clarified the book and receipt. He says that he saw a receipt in the hiking book when the "male" brought the books out of her room and than the book was missing...

landlord also says this "male" is her mechanic...... ("he is a backyard mechanic that is how he makes his living) around 22:50 into the audio

at 18:07 in Ron and Don are getting the sheriff on the phone to answer questions... I am still listening... but they did say they are doing an investigation of the situation

woooow... the male was scheduled to take a lie detecter test yesterday and be interviewed and he 'skipped it' (still listening).... LE being very ellusive about the investigation....

ron and don ask if csi done on car... cox says he doesn't know but the car has been impounded and sealed so if the investigation goes that way it is preserved for testing...

cox says once all the ground covered.... they will decided which way they will want to go... (his tone is annoying me!!!) with the investigation

r/d as what is cox "gut" on the case..... (you guys don't want to know what his gut is... he thinks she is on the mountain...... and I think I am going to PUKE)

cox wants to talk to anyone who has been on the trail since last thursday.

I just got an email back from the LAtimes reporter... they were not aware of this information so hopefuly we will see some more reporting on this case

Ron & Don on Seattle KIRO 97.3 fm are talking this afternoon to Katherine's dad about her disappearance. Check out the interview on mynorthwest.com He's from Pennsylvania and just stated he is not leaving until she is found. Searchers have been combing a 12 square mile area, very rugged terrain. It sounds like LE is not going to continue searching, but family and friends are.

They just said on JVM that there was ANOTHER report of a flasher in the same area a couple months ago.

They're not ruling out the cases could be connected.

-just spoke to her dad bob... last time he spoke to her she was going into a walmart and she wasn't happy about that.... they didn't hear about her missing until saturday night. he gave a shout out to ron and don show and asked that anyone who saw something or knows anything to call

-undersheriff convinced she is on the mountain (no one else thinks she is)

-replaying cox interview from yesterday (it was a joke if you guys didn't hear it)

Honestly, Ron and Don are kind of a joke. They used to have a "men's radio show" with lots of crude humor.

I'm wondering if LE is deliberately publicly focusing on Kate being on the mountain in order to lull the mechanic (or others) into a false sense of security?

Although if what the roommate said regarding no statements being taken from the roommates (and I have no reason to doubt his statement), LE seems to be pretty lax in investigating this case. Nursebeeme, thanks for the notes from the latest Ron and Don show. The attention that they are giving this case is truly impressive.

How does the landlord know that the "male" was spotted at the trailhead at midnight? Who would have been there to even see him?

Now I'm wondering about this "landlord"...

it was not the view of the radio hosts... it was them giving concerned people around Kate a platform.

I, for one, am glad of that. And hope their coverage helps find out what happened to her.

I don't believe she's on that mountain. And they need to track down "the male" and interrogate him - ASAP!
