CA - Alicia Scott Lee, 17, Golden Gate National Recreational Area, 20 March 2010
Search on for missing teen in Marin Headlands
Saturday, March 20, 2010
Boats, helicopters, tracking dogs and teams on horseback are searching for a 17-year-old girl reported missing today from Golden Gate National Recreational Area in southern Marin County.
Alicia Scott Lee was reportedly last seen at about 1 a.m. when she became separated from friends near Tennessee Beach, said National Park Service Ranger George Durgerian.
Her disappearance wasn't reported to the park service until about 12:30 p.m., and the circumstances surrounding what happened are still unclear, Durgerian said.
"There's a lot of things we don't know about this one," Durgerian said. About 50 people are involved in the search, he said.
Lee was reportedly last seen near an abandoned military installation close to Tennessee Beach, Durgerian said.
Officials described her as an Asian girl who is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 120 pounds and has brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, blue jeans, a black sweatshirt and Ugg boots, officials said.

I'm unable to find a picture. There are only a few articles so far, and all say the same information. Will have to keep an eye on this and see if maybe there are some more articles and information in the morning.

Alicia Scott Lee has been missing since 1 a.m. Saturday. She was last seen near the bunker to the right of Tennessee Beach, according to Park Ranger George Durgerian.

About 50 to 70 searchers from the Marin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue unit, Sonoma and Alameda counties and the U.S. Coast Guard blanketed the Tennessee Valley area looking for Alicia Scott Lee.

"abandoned military installation close to Tennessee Beach..."
The abandoned structure lies beside some cliffs, with the trail extremely close to it. . There wasn't much of a moon Friday night, and the area is very remote with little light. A strong wind could easily knock a person off into the sea as the wind had started to pick up in the area that evening from 5-12 miles per hour (though I don't think this would easily knock a person down in optimal conditions).
Here is a link to a site with Photos of Tennessee Beach and the Bunker Near it.

I hope they are able to find her soon!

The body of a 17-year-old girl was found Sunday morning in the waters near Muir Beach in Marin County, about two miles north of another beach where she had disappeared early Saturday, a ranger said.

No indications of foul play according to the article. So sad.
Rest in peace Alicia.

Oh that is so sad, I was hoping for a better outcome. I have been hiking in that area several times and it can be a little tricky even during daylight hours. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

Girl Falls To Death
They think the girl fell about 300 feet from the cliffs into the ocean sometime Saturday night while at Tennessee beach with friends.

What is going on? This is the second "fall" scenario this month.

I live on the coast of Sonoma county and the coastal areas of the North Bay are very dangerous and steep. For the most part the area is very "wild" with no hand rails or fencing along the cliff edges. With all of the rain lately the cliff areas can become very slippery and unstable. There are many trails that follow along the cliff edges and a simple misstep can be fatal. Friday night it was pretty dark out here as the moon was just a sliver so there wasn't much light and she was wearing uggs, very warm and comfy, but arent the best hiking boots and dont have much traction. This was just a horrible accident and it could happen to anyone.
