Judge Sets Bail For Mom Charged With Child Neglect
The mother who was at first feared missing and then found to have been on a five-day drug binge faced a judge Thursday morning; what he told her brought her to tears.
Melanie Parada's bail was set at $10,000 and once she's released she will be required to wear a GPS device, attend three narcotic classes a week and two drug classes a week.
In addition, Parada will not be allowed to have contact with her 8-year-old daughter and must remain at least 500-feet from her. When Judge John Hurley told her the news, she started covering her face and crying.
Parada was arrested on child neglect charges after leaving her daughter home alone Friday. That morning, her daughter awoke to find her mother missing

They don't plan on reunification, IMO. The drug classes are for the courts in general, not family court. Usually, if they are going to return a child, they are required to start and maintain visits right away. Sounds like they intend to terminate. JMO, and I could be wrong.

Think you are right NMK-if memory serves the initial missing reports said this wasn't the first time she "took off".

Now she's crying.
Anyone know the difference between a narcotics class and a drug class?

I certainly hope she has no further contact with the little girl.
This is just another one to add to the list that burns me up.

Sad, sad, sad. Poor little girl wakes up to find mom vanished, forever.
So she left Thursday night/early morning Friday, realizes on Friday she's left her daughter alone (huh??), and then relatives reported her missing on Sunday, then she called someone (edited to correct day) Tuesday to let them know she's partying but "OK" ? I have to wonder what the little girl did when she realized Mom was missing, and how long she was alone? Did she go to a neighbor or family member's house right away?
