From the way it reads he is just now getting mail and phone privileges. And another order they made was that he couldn't make contact with Amanda's daughter. It made me wonder if they were afraid that he might try some way to sneak in a call to Amanda's daughter. Or even the other women.

Then again they may have had reporters attempt to contact him and they might be trying to keep him away from reporters.

full, raw video of the third pretrial (7/3/13). wish castro would speak up; the DAs couldn't hear him (nor could i).

Wow, I had no idea his lawyers were pushing for a speedy trial! I just can't see it beginning in August. Shouldn't the main concern be for the victims? Do they want to testify? I'm pretty sure that, only 2 mos. after their rescue, they are still dealing with intense trauma. Perhaps facing AC in court would help them; perhaps it would be their worst nightmare. There really is no punishment "good enough" for this evil man. May he rot in hell. He knew what he was doing and he knew it was wrong.

In his first television interview, Ariel Castro's son said Monday that his dad belongs in prison for the rest of his life and he doesn't plan on ever visiting him.

snip...Castro is set to be sentenced Thursday. A plea deal he agreed to recommends that he get life in prison without parole. The deal would allow Castro to avoid the death penalty.

The son of the Cleveland man who admitted kidnapping, raping and enslaving three women for about a decade says his father belongs behind bars for the rest of his life.

In an interview Monday on NBC's "Today" show, Anthony Castro said he has nothing to say to his father, Ariel Castro, and will not visit him in prison.

Interrogation video | Ariel Castro says he called Amanda Berry's mother

CLEVELAND -- Just hours after his arrest, Ariel Castro told interrogators that he used Amanda Berry's cell phone to call her mother.

"I think I said something, that I have her daughter and that she's OK and that she's my wife now," Castro is seen saying in the footage. "Something like that, you know, probably not the exact words."

Castro claimed he then hung up on Berry's mother without further conversation.

That admission is just a small portion of a four-hour interrogation video, which was obtained exclusively by NBC News. Snippets of the video aired Friday morning on the "Today" show.

The video also features Castro explaining to investigators how he abducted Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight.

At one point, Castro reveals how he thought he was going to be caught after abducting DeJesus because surveillance cameras in the area likely captured him on film just 15 minutes prior.

Castro also discussed with investigators details about the day the three women escaped his house of horrors on Seymour Avenue in May.

"I know I let my guard down," Castro says while disclosing how he had left a bedroom door unlocked.

Castro killed himself behind bars earlier this week -- just one month into his life sentence.

He previously pleaded guilty to more than 900 counts against him.
