Canada's Missing | Case details

So she was clearly married (name change and a few wedding photos at Canada's Missing | Case details). Shouldn't her husband have way more information to contribute than this? Seems rather suspicious (unless they were separated by the time she disappeared).

First off, why doesn't he know the exact date or at least a better approximation (at least the month) of when he last saw her?
Did he report her missing?
Where was she going in the "West"? Why wouldn't her own husband know where?
Was there a reason why she was going? To visit family? Fresh start?
Why wasn't her husband going with her?
How was she getting there? Did she have a vehicle?
Did she leave all her belongings behind?

One would think that if you were telling people you were heading off to the "West", you'd also be telling people why, and for how long you planned to be gone etc.

These are all simple questions that really should have been a part of the initial MP report. Otherwise how do investigators know where to search for her?

In retrospect, maybe her husband was deceased by the time she disappeared because he should have at least known the missing description blanks like Muriel's hair and eye color. So whoever reported her missing didn't know these things?? Who gave the police the wedding photos?

The husband, Hugh McLuskie Ness, died in 1986, but they had divorced in 1958 and she went missing after the divorce. A tree on Ancestry, belonging to a relative (Roberta Ness) says there was a rumour that she moved to Calgary, married an Eric Hamilton, and had a son William. Who knows if it is true.

Wow thank you so much for this!

MURIEL JONES

WHEN:
Sometime in 1959

411: Details of the disappearance of divorcee Muriel Jones, 39, remain murky. Her former husband told detectives that Muriel had been planning on travelling to western Canada. Even the date she vanished is foggy. There have been rumours that Jones did, in fact, quietly move west, cutting off all ties to her past life.''
