Resolved MI - Kimberly Louiselle, 16, Oakland Co, 21 Mar 1982

I have yet to see any news stories, but according to Kim's sister, the killer is Charles Shaw, the same man responsible for Christine Castiglione's death.

The discovery was made using genetic genealogy.

For over four decades, authorities from MSP and the Livingston County Sheriff's Department worked to disentangle the mysterious death of Kimberly Louiselle of South Lyon, who was last seen March 20, 1982 near 8 Mile and Merriman roads in Livonia, according to State Police.

Using a 2018 novel investigatory tool called Forensic Genealogy, they linked Castiglione’s homicide to 26-year-old Charles David Shaw, who died in November 1983.

Shaw's DNA was never submitted to CODIS, or the Combined DNA Index System, state officials said.

Police said DNA links Charles David Shaw to Kimberly Louiselle’s case. Shaw died in 1983. He had previously been named as the killer in the murder case of 19-year-old Christina Lynn Castiglione. Police said he is also a suspect in a third murder, which, if confirmed, would make him a serial killer.

An autopsy revealed that even though she had been missing for more than three weeks, she had only been dead for four to five days.

Back in 1983, someone had tipped police that Shaw had lived in the area where Kimberly Louiselle lived. They said he had recently destroyed his apartment and they thought it was suspicious. Police took note, but never tracked Shaw down.

Shaw was found dead in Detroit on Nov. 27, 1983. The medical examiner’s report lists his death as accidental sexual asphyxiation.

Four decades after a murder trail had gone cold, a man identified as the killer of a teenager in 1983 is now a suspect in a girl's 1982 murder, Michigan State Police said in a news release Thursday, and more potential victims could be identified.

The body of 16-year-old Kimberly Louiselle was found on April 14, 1982, on a wooded trail 20 miles from where she was last seen. Her sister, Cindy Arthurs, wrote on social media that Louiselle was hitchhiking home, and "she made at least 4 phone calls to people who lived in South Lyon trying to find a ride the rest of the way home."

The 3rd murder he is suspected of has to be Anne Doroghazi. She was taken and found murdered very close to where Kimberly was found. Last seen September 26, 1981, she was found nude and strangled as well.

Christina Castiglione's Killer is Now Linked to the Murder of 16-Year-Old Kimberly Louiselle

September 17, 2023 rbbm

The man linked by DNA to the sexual assault & murder of Christina Castiglione is now linked by DNA, as well, to the sexual assault of Kimberly Louiselle and possibly a third woman.'

''Detectives were unable to find any direct ties between Christina and Charles Shaw to suggest why she was targeted. However, through collaboration with living relatives of the killer, it was determined that he was a long-time Livonia resident who lived less than 5 miles from where Christina went missing. Based on information received from Shaw's family, he was described as a sex addict with a disturbing life who struggled with mental illness and his gender identity. Charles Shaw had several interactions with law enforcement beginning at a young age. One such interaction resulted in his arrest in 1981 for the attempted abduction of a woman in the Fowlerville McDonald's parking lot.''

I appreciate that Shaw family members were helpful to the police in this case. They contributed to the solving of these cases.
