Linda Sue Davis was a 29 year old mother of 3 young children, with light brown wavy hair and green eyes, when she was last seen on January 7th, 1976. On January 6th, Linda delivered her receipts to her boss, she stated she thought someone was following her, but she “lost them”. Linda was last seen on January 7th at 1:30 am, at the Don’s Club in Claremore. She was in the company of an unknown Caucasian male.

Linda was last seen in black pants, unknown color blouse and one brown shoe could be present, due to one shoe being found at the crime seen.

On January 8th, Linda’s 1970 Ford two door car was found abandoned in the 400 block of Northwest 9th St., Northwest Oklahoma City. Witness reporting seeing a man park the car and walk away the day before. In Linda’s car they found her purse, which contained her drivers license, prescription medication, makeup, and various bills. In the trunk of the car receipts where found along with a light colored corduroy coat. This coat had bloodstains and had about 20 stab marks. Human blood was found inside the car, on the fender and in the trunk. One of Linda’s brown shoes was found in a nearby bush a few days later.

Linda was scheduled to testify in an assault case. Linda was a witness to Roland Corky Sanders assault a deputy sheriff with a tire tool in the summer of 1975 according to Linda's sister, Sharon Burk.

One of the speculations was Linda went into Federal Witness Protection, although she left her children behind. Another theory is that Linda was killed because she was about to testify in the assault case. Others think she fell victim to a serial killer who is incarcerated in Illinois for murdering two women.

No one has ever been charged in her disappearance. Claremore Police have put cameras down wells and sent scuba divers into abandoned mines in search for Linda’s body with no luck.

Any information about Linda’s disappearance can be called into the Claremore Police Department at (918)825-3820.

Linda Sue Davis – The Charley Project

Linda Sue Davis — Oklahoma Cold Cases

Charley Project: There is speculation that Davis went into witness protection or fell victim to a serial killer, but little evidence is available in her disappearance and no one has faced any charges. One suspect in her case is incarcerated for the murders of two other women. Davis's case remains unsolved.
Who are they?
Here there's a list of murderers in Oklahoma, but no one seems to fit.1692348806948.jpg

The suspect referred to in Charley Project is Herman Edward Lamb Jr, who was convicted for the murders of Bonnie Sue Loker in Florida in 1987 and Denise Stahlhut in Illinois in 1977 (but only convicted in 2003 after a DNA match). He lived in Oklahoma at various times and was found not guilty of the murder of his ex-wife and four children in Sallisaw in 1984/5 (the evidence was circumstantial). He certainly fits the profile and Stahlhut also worked in a tavern, but the link is speculative.

"Oklahoma City Police detectives got involved because blood was in the car, and in the trunk they found clothing that they attributed to Miss Davis that was covered in stab wounds and covered in blood,” said Claremore investigator, John Singer.

Police told 2 News that specific blood evidence took the investigation in a whole new direction.

“Enough blood in the trunk where they knew it was awfully serious and likely consistent with a homicide. Her body has never been found and so we have an amount of physical evidence consistent with a homicide, and investigators touched base with everybody that they could associate with Miss Davis but they developed no solid leads,” said Singer.''
