The sheriff's office confirmed Mika Miller died last weekend at Lumber River State Park in the Orrum community of Robeson County, NC. Her death is now being investigated. She was the wife of a Myrtle Beach pastor, John Paul Miller.

"McLean added officers are in the process of gathering information from people in South Carolina and North Carolina as part of their investigation into how Miller died."

Her obituary says she lived in Myrtle Beach, so why was her body so far away?

Just found a fundraiser from one of her sisters when Mica was in the hospital recently.

It didn't specify what type of hospital it was.
But from the description, She was in the hospital for something and she missed an important event ( I think 30th birthdsy) and her sister wanted friends and family to celebrate her.

Her husband said something about medication when he announced to his congregation that his wife experienced "self-induced" death.

Her body was found quickly at a State Park on a Saturday far from Myrtle Beach. There were closer options if suicide by gun was her decision - unless the river park holds special meaning to her.

If it was murder, it might have been the best idea at the time.

If it was murder, perhaps the park is out of hearing distance and gives the murderer time to escape. Let's hope there was cctv.

And I think this is the most important information right now. By all accounts, her death was not ruled as a suicide and there is an open investigation.

She'd filed for a divorce and had a no contact order. Would her husband have even tried to see her with an order forbidding it?

"Mica Miller filed for divorce from her husband in October 2023, according to court records viewed by The Post.

The case was dismissed in February, but a few days later, John-Paul Miller filed for “separate support and maintenance,” seeking financial support as the couple were still legally married.

In April, Mica Miller also filed for “separate support and maintenance” with a hearing scheduled for June 5.

Her family is seeking “#JUSTICEFORMICA” as they claim “a no contact order and a divorce was filed” days before her death, according to the Robesonian."

JMO but traveling from home to work seems like such a vulnerable time for someone who has left an abusive relationship. Even if someone is living in a safe place that their former partner doesn’t know of, if there is a time when they could be intercepted in a car it would seem like it would be in the coming/going from work. Easy to follow someone’s usual routine and trace them in transit. Not saying that’s what happened here, but it feels like could potentially be a vulnerable time when someone’s guard might be down and they might even pull over thinking they are safe and in a public place if former partner did suddenly appear.

I hope LE are reviewing CCTV, there must be loads along the way between Myrtle Beach and the state park that could answer some questions about when she diverted/was diverted from her planned route to work.

The weird part is how her husband announced her passing to his congregation. The Christian community online I'm a part of all agree that it's extremely bizarre. Not to mention how they met, etc. I think that's shooting the red flag up for many. Although, being an unconventional pastor doesn't automatically mean anything other than that.

A group of her friends is also meeting at the church at 9 a.m. to hold a "Justice for Mica" rally to bring awareness to her struggles.

A beach memorial will be held in North Myrtle Beach at the same time as Solid Rock's memorial, 3 p.m.

The event's Facebook post reads, "Micah loved God and loved people."

It's in a different State. Who has jurisdiction over government owned parks? Could be someone hoping the location + crossovers with LE or Park Rangers who aren't experienced with complicated crimes may quickly rule it a suicide.
