Why is Cody Alcorn who is a respected journalist saying something entirely different?

He isn't. The FIT news article is speaking to details on court filings, abuse, attempts to hide assets, highly suspicious circumstances swirling around Mica's death, what her family's feelings are, ect.

Cody spoke to none of that, only stating his opinion on what the investigation will reveal regarding Mica's suicide - based on what he heard from reliable LE sources.

Behind the scenes, Mica’s family was actively taking steps to protect her estate as tensions were beginning to escalate. On May 3, 2024, an application was filed by attorney Jarrett Bouchette in Horry County probate court on behalf of Mica’s sister, Sierra Francis. That application sought to appoint Francis as a special administrator of Mica’s estate. Attached to this application were affidavits and exhibits showing why friends and family are actively seeking a full investigation into her death.

The appointment of special administrator was requested to:

• preserve Mica’s portion of the “marital estate”
• to obtain confidential records from Waccamaw Mental Health, South Strand Medical Center/Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and Victim’s Advocacy
• to gain access to and take possession of “any wills, deeds to cemetery plots, and insurance policies, or other Estate related documents in Decedent’s safe deposit box”

According to a memorandum in support of this request, the timing of Mica’s death was very suspicious.

As we previously reported, just prior to her death – on April 15, 2024 – Mica filed for divorce from her husband. As we reported, JP Miller was served these papers on April 25, 2024 — two days prior to her death. The hearing relating to this filing had been scheduled for June 5, 2024 in front of S.C. family court judge Jan Bromell Holmes. At that hearing, Miller’s attorneys hoped to obtain an order which would restrain John-Paul Miller from disposing of, encumbering, transferring, selling, hypothecating, pledging, destroying or otherwise altering the status or value of any marital asset.

Mica also told her sister that JP Miller had been moving assets around to avoid them being included in the marital estates. Specifically, she stated he transferred the deed to their house to the church – and transferred his interest in a local piano bar called ‘Crocodile Rocks‘ to his son.

According to the affidavit, Mica had been gathering evidence in preparation to file for divorce – evidence which would have supported her claims of “abuse, character, his paramours, and associates he ‘paid off’ or blackmailed when she was admitted to the Waccamaw Mental Health facility.”

The 911 dispatcher wouldn’t know if that was Mica’s voice or some other female impersonating Mica. If the family listened to this 911 call and heard Mica’s voice, they would have likely accepted the sad situation, but they aren’t accepting it as a suicide.

However.....the gaslighting is off the charts. If he was doing that from the pulpit what was he doing to her in private?!

Gaslighting is a manipulative tactic used to make a person doubt what they have experienced point blank. In other words, it makes one question their own sanity after a lengthy exposure to it. And she's been with him since of age of 14.

Depending on the level of severity and how long a person is subjected to it, gaslighting can have devastating mental health effects as well as long term physical, psychological and emotional backlash, which we've seen in so many cases on WS.

It is an insidious hidden form of abuse that I find quite abhorrent. It belongs to a class of cowards who cannot gain what they seek in life because of conseit, self-admiring, the lie of entitlement...etc...

So, could he have drove her to it, yes. Unless I see forensics that show otherwise I'm feeling he drove her to it.

And now might be a good time for me to add the disclaimer that I have been a pastor's wife my entire marriage.

Understandable, but how do we know he is a sincere man of God and not a charlatan?

He’s already caused so much harm, from what little we know thus far.

Committing adultery when he was already a pastor and married with five children.

Having had what appears to be an unseemly relationship with Mica when she was just a teenager, eventually leading to the adultery.

What IMO was a very nonchalant and inappropriate announcement of his wife’s death, at the tail end of a church service.

Being seen out with another woman days after his wife’s tragic death, (whether by suicide or murder), even if it isn’t an affair.

I know the New Testament says to avoid even the appearance of evil.

Of course I don’t know him but I do not see a true man of God.

The truth will out.

There have been others who use religion for their own purposes......power, control, adulation, self importance, and money.
There have been plenty who have been exposed, and there are still plenty who are still operating their "churches" with congregations who cannot and will not see the truth about these frauds. These "preachers" take advantage of people who find comfort in belonging and in communal worship.

Prior to her admission to Waccamaw, Mica was gathering and sorting the evidence she had to
bring to an attorney for filing for divorce, to support her claims against Mr. Miller, and as to
his abuse, character, his paramours, and associates he “paid off’ or blackmailed. While at the
facility, those documents, emails, files, etc., were removed from her phone, personal laptop,
vehicle and purse and never recovered. Further, Mica was unable to access her iCloud account,
email, or Facebook profile. Mr. Miller continued using at least one of Mica’s accounts, causing
any recipient to believe it was Mica’s communications.

For those who felt the way the obituary described her interactions with her family was a red flag, good instincts!

From page 17 (affidavit of her brother):

Mr. Miller’s email to my sister continued to state that he was angry when Mica confided or “put
her family before” him and that made him want to hurt her. In his words “When someone hurts
me, I try to hurt them back rather than forgive.” and “instead of me forgiving you.... I just attack and try to cause pain.”

I think that was the most shocking thing of all. If our Pastor reveals something personal in a sermon, he always states in advance, "I have permission to share".

In this case, JPM's motivation is crystal clear. But I'm left wondering how those who sit under his preaching, viewed this. Personally, I'd feel he was definitely not a man of God and I'd never go back. Actions speak louder than words and discernment is a real thing. Otherwise it's a cult, IMO.

I don't know the timing of it but her brother's affidavit states the following:

Mica told me of legal documents she prepared so that I would be able to make decisions for her
well-being. However, those documents were not located. The only legal documents discovered
appointed Mr. Miller as her power of attorney.
