Wendy Williams has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia, it was confirmed Thursday.

The care team for the 59-year-old former host of The Wendy Williams Show announced her new diagnosis in a press release.

They said Williams had undergone 'a battery of medical tests' before arriving at the diagnosis, which comes days ahead of the release of her Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?, which details her struggles with alcohol abuse and mental health in recent years.

I know this is the Daily Mail, but it was the first thing I saw this morning. While I wouldn't say I like Wendy Williams' style, she used to make me laugh with some of the things she would say about celebs. I
 
I just saw the announcement on the news. She seems to have been in a bad way for quite some time, sad. I had wondered if she has Korsokoff's, one of my Dad's friend had it, basically similar but caused by alcohol in his case. Sad.
 
Former talk show host Wendy Williams has been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, her team said in a statement Thursday.

She was diagnosed last year after undergoing several medical tests. Her team said the conditions have “presented significant hurdles in Wendy’s life.”

“Wendy would not have received confirmation of these diagnoses were it not for the diligence of her current care team, who she chose, and the extraordinary work of the specialists at Weill Cornell Medicine.
