According to a missing endangered person alert, Siems was upset about legal issues and recently purchased a handgun and three boxes of ammunition. Deputies found the gun's case and box in a field north of his home.

The Sheriff's Office said that if Siems is still alive, he does not know that his wife is now deceased.
