Tanya Nepinak was last seen leaving her home in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 13, 2011 to go shopping and has not been seen or heard from since. Tanya has always been in contact with her family and this behaviour is out of character for her.

Tanya Nepinak, 31, was last seen on Sept. 13, 2011 leaving her Winnipeg home to walk to a pizza restaurant a few blocks away. She never returned. Nine months later, Shawn Lamb was charged with three counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths and disappearances of Nepinak, Carolyn Sinclair and Lorna Blacksmith. Lamb was convicted of manslaughter in Sinclair’s and Blacksmith’s cases, while the charge for Nepinak was stayed. Police have searched downtown Winnipeg and the city’s landfill for her body, but it has not been found. Nepinak’s aunt remembers Tanya’s love of singing and her fondness for her family.

<<The charge in Nepinak’s death was stayed. Manitoba Justice officials said there was not enough evidence for a conviction.

“He admitted to it, but now he’s denying it. It’s very hard to get any justice, especially when you don’t have a body,” said Caribou.>>

''The aunt of a woman missing for over a decade stood at the steps of the Manitoba Legislature on Saturday echoing her calls on the province to include Tanya Nepinak, 31, in a targeted search of Winnipeg's Brady Landfill.
Sue Caribou held up an optimistic letter she wrote to her missing niece after a meeting with Premier Wab Kinew this spring, while others held signs at the legislative building that read: "Search for Tanya Nepinak."
"When they did mention they were going to search the Brady Landfill, again, they didn't mention my niece," Nepinak said through tears. "Why do they keep throwing her under the rug? Doesn't she matter?"

The focus that we're working on is Ashley Shingoose, because we have the information about the cell where we believe she's located, but we are making plans to search for Tanya Nepinak as well," Kinew told reporters at a Wednesday news conference.

Tanya Nepinak has not been seen or heard from since Sept. 13, 2011, when she walked out of her Winnipeg home where she lived with her mother, saying she was heading to a nearby restaurant to get pizza.

Good they are finally going to look for her
