Leonardo da Pinchy terrorises seaside town in ‘one-cat crimewave’

While most cat owners dread their pets bringing home mice, one New Zealand family faces a more unusual shame: their feline is a prolific thief.

Fifteen-month-old Leo, now known as 'Leonardo da Pinchy', has become a local celebrity in Mairangi Bay for his unstoppable “one-cat crimewave”.

The feline's expensive taste has cemented his notoriety in the placid beachside neighbourhood. His frequent hauls from clotheslines and bedrooms include silk boxer shorts and thick men’s work socks, often still with clothespins attached.

In a particularly mortifying episode for his humans, Leo recently made off with a brand-new cashmere sweater, valued at NZ$300 New Zealand (about £145)

On one record-setting day, Leo returned with nine items, enough for a full outfit if you didn’t mind a mix of everything from baby clothes to menswear.

Totally disagree. Leonardo has no intention of stopping. Look at that face - he is defiant.

And I love him.

There is a cat we all know 🐱
Who's name is Leonardo,
He likes to hunt around
Brings clothes to the ground
Then drags them home to show.

Cat Court he will have to face
Not sure the time or place,
But his case will be heard
Yet he won't say a word
To plead against his case. 😸

My opinion is he's guilty as charged. That is a real "So what?" expression on his face.

He probably thinks he's a very good boy 🙂

Where is the Paw Patrol when you need them? It wouldn't matter he is to smart and cute to be found guilty.

Looks like he may be packing before he sets off to see the world!

AWW, my cat is too old and lazy. She used to be a feral before being rescued by a friend of mine. I've had her for about 14 years now. She also had two owners before me. Hmm , now I really wonder what she could have been up to before becoming an indoor only cat!!
edited to change from 10 to 14 years!! Can't remember how long I've had her!!

Just imagine him nicking your biggest, baggiest, oldest period knickers. Who would dare reclaim those?

With all those socks, he must be planning quite a long journey!
