I'm thinking they're going to say he was about to buy her a car.

Words are cheap, proof please.

I've been married for quite a long time and my husband either forgets completely until he sees my gift for him and then rushes out on the day bringing back flowers and a card and telling me to pick up something "nice" for myself all contrite, or my gift is waiting for me when I wake up, chocolates, card etc and then he goes and gets flowers later so they're fresh. So to say after the fact that he was "about to" tells me that he forgot and had had no plans to do anything special.

As for RS cooking for OP, I never did see OP respond that he would love that, was he even going to see RS that day because her plans didn't seem to indicate that, leaving his gift for him to open on his own, "be there like a bear" for cupcakes at a friends etc.

Anti-depressants and sleeping pills aren't ideal to take long term. But he should definitely stick with the sleeping pills the nights before he's on the stand, or the trial will still be going at Christmas if they have to adjourn just because he's tired.

Uh oh...:noooo:

I gotta say, it was pretty riveting. Nel is quick! I think you will appreciate the exchange whether you ultimately agree with the content or not. It's good viewing and I think we are in for more!

I'm still watching, and yes Nel does keep it interesting with his dramatic pitch and quick talking and so forth. :) Cross examination is always so much more interesting than direct examination.

So far I haven't seen anything that indicates this expert witness is full of nonsense, but I'm not all the way through.

I really don't believe for one second he was going to buy her a car but think he may now put it forward as it's Reeva's viewing of cars that have been highlighted in the ipad history. Remember though these were people at the beginning of their relationship and considering the lengths OP went to for his previous gf then I'd have expected a grand gesture of some sort from him and if he didn't? Well that's maybe a motive right there.

:silly:

If so, we would know ALL about that by now!

.

Possibly but Roux seems to be in control of what OP's testifying to and media leaks. When watching the trial today, I wish I'd have put money on Roux ending the testimony early because it felt like he wanted to leave on an emotional tugging at the heart strings moment, which he ended up getting from the judge so wouldn't be surprised if the Valentine gift may be used to win over Reeva's parents.

Excuse the spelling but the medication he mentions are antidepressant cipramil, sleeping sedative normison and then changed to cipralex, dormonoct and molipaxin.

E.T.A Think they're the correct spellings now.

Thank you. It is past 1 am in the UK at the moment but I will look up the drugs in the morning.

Yooohooo ... Lisa, if you're still around, can you tell me exactly how you think this pathologist was so discredited as to make his whole testimony nonsense? I am about finished with his testimony, and I really do not see it yet. TIA

In the case of the boating accident, am I understanding correctly that OP testified his drinking was not a factor, but the accident was influenced by a host of other factors including the position of the sun and some friends on the boat who were in a hurry? In other words, factors beyond his control? It appears his BAC was not tested, unfortunately. http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Booze-found-in-crashed-boat-20090224

As always, all of the above is just my opinion.

I totally agree about Roux. I don't think much he does or says is unintentional!

Yet some people don't entertain Valentine's Day through personal choice. i.e. it's merely Hallmark/Clinton's day commercialism :p

Minor..glad you are here! I don't know if this testimony is going to be a game changer, but I thought Nel was fun to watch and asked some questions that got to the pathologist. Do not think he should have given an opinion about the gun shot sequence.

OP had previous history of driving to an ex-gf's house and blowing up balloons, spray painting her drive with his declaration of love etc and as it was the subject of a media article then Reeva's expectations may have been for a similar declaration.

Yeah, I just don't see that much was either lost or gained by this witness - either in direct or cross examination. What I took away from it is that the food digestion is not exact, but the state's expert could have been right or the last meal could have been more than a couple of hours before.

There was also a bunch of back and forth about whether the back wounds were caused by the magazine rack or a ricochet, and my conclusion is that the two experts have different opinions about the most likely - neither is proven conclusively to be true or false, and I don't think it really matters either way.

The most important bit from this expert IMO is that he gave a reasonable scenario whereby Reeva may not have screamed during the 4 bullet shots.

Watching Oscar's testimony now ...

ETA: My first observation is his voice is very nasally
