Sheriff's office: Clyman woman 'missing, endangered'
Authorities search for missing 28-year-old

Dodge County Chief Deputy Scott Smith said 28-year-old Heather Stewart was last seen at 10 p.m. Wednesday. Smith said law enforcement is not commenting on why she's considered endangered, but that authorities considered it "a credible enough threat" to launch a search. He said the missing person investigation into Stewart is still "very active and ongoing" in coordination with Watertown police.

The death of a missing Clyman woman found dead in Watertown on Friday has been ruled a homicide, Watertown police said.

Heather Stewart, 28, was found dead in her vehicle in the parking lot of a former grocery store. An autopsy was performed Saturday but the cause of death has not been released as the investigation into her death continues, Watertown Police Chief Tim Roets said.

"The crime was not a random act and the general public is not at risk," Roets said. He added that investigators are pursuing leads and working with sheriff's departments from Dodge and Jefferson counties and the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.

They're not even naming the guy? That's weird.

She died of a gunshot wound.

According to Chief Tim Roets, “This homicide investigation remains very active as our investigators continue to gather information. I encourage citizens with information to call our department. Specifically, any information concerning activity in the vicinity of the former Pick ‘n Save building between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28th.

Michael C. Henderson, 209 Harrison St., Waterloo, appeared in Jefferson County Circuit Court by video teleconferencing from the Jefferson County Jail for his initial court appearance. The cash bail was set by Judge David J. Wambach. The judge ordered Henderson to have no contact with the victim’s family. Jefferson County District Attorney Susan Happ appeared for the state. Henderson appeared with Attorney Elizabeth Svehlek who informed the court the defendant qualifies for a state public defender.

A preliminary hearing was set for June 25.

Did Heather know him?

From the link:

Jefferson County District Attorney Susan Happ requested that a high bond be set as Henderson has a lengthy criminal record of at least 15 prior convictions, including violating a restraining order, escape, battery to law officers and bail jumping.

According to Happ, he also has failed to show up for at least five prior court appearances.

Why was this man not in jail? Heather would still be alive if he hadn't been walking free, and her children would still have their mother.

Michael Henderson appeared in custody before Judge Randy Koshnick to waive his rights to the court proceeding. The judge asked if he understood his actions, to which he responded in the affirmative.

The judge set arraignment for 2 p.m. July 24 at which time Henderson is expected to enter a plea to the charge. Henderson faces life in prison if convicted of the first-degree intentional homicide charge.

Koshnick continued bail at $1 million cash.

Henderson remains in custody at the Jefferson County Jail after bond was set at $1 million cash during his initial appearance in court on the charges.

In Jefferson County Circuit Court on Tuesday before Judge Randy Koschnick, the district attorney’s office brought forth a motion to limit Henderson’s contact with Linda Peters, listed in the criminal complaint as his current girlfriend...

According to Assistant District Attorney Brookellen Teuber, it was discovered that Henderson called Peters from the jail to discuss the case, and as such the state moved to limit his contact with her under a separate statute, whether or not he ever posted bail.

An arraignment has been scheduled Jan. 22, 2015, in the identity theft case of accused killer Michael Henderson, the Waterloo man charged with first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly killing Heather Stewart, 28, of Clyman this past summer in Watertown...

Watertown Police Department Capt. Randy Johnson testified that Henderson forged his signature on the document to the court in which Henderson maintained that Young J. Choi, a Watertown man currently facing a homicide charge in Jefferson County, committed the murder of Stewart.
