HUh? How is signs of "overkill" favorable evidence for the defense?!
The detectives originally thought there was more than 1 person. Therefore, 2 or more would have been in DTs favor.

The trial was concerned with actual evidence. Actual evidence was not in Arias' favor. At all.

They thought there was more than one person based on conjecture and nothing more. They thought she must have had help because of the damage she did. There is zero evidence of another person. And I don't see how arguing for another person there would have helped. Having an extra person with her would have highlighted the premeditated aspect. Really, with that evidence, Jodi had no choice but self defense if she was going for full innocence.

:seeya: on this new thread..... not following what y'all are talking about? Elle Elle's entire post was not brought forward so confused me... What is being responded to didn't make sense until I went back and saw it said

Huh? The crime scene was full of DNA and overkill.

There were no other suspects, except the "ninjas".

Her original post was snipped...ok...moving on

Ok , so JA gave up her career as an attorney. THank goodness for that. But I still do not understand how this next phase works.

How do they get the new jury up to speed? Does JA get on the stand again and talk about the murder?

She actually added that after it was quoted, presumably to clarify. No big.

There are many posts explaining how it will proceed katydid23... but I can't comprehend the explanations until I see it happen.

I don't know that there have been many (any?) trials that I have followed that this has happened with. There is the sidebar thread which a lot of folks are on that perhaps can answer your question..but I've never seen this happen in a case..

Interesting to learn! I'll now know not to put stuff in quotations as a post...as it apparently doesn't get quoted on a reply quote. Didn't know that and good to know for the future.

Thanks - AZ said in above link

AZ....do you know how the proceedings of the first trial are going to be presented to the new jury? Or if they will be? Does Stephens just summarize and the penalty retrial begins? Thanks.

They really can't just summarize, because the new jury members are entitled to judge the credibility of each witness for themselves. In this case, where high-quality video is available, I think the judge could ask both sides to designate portions of the coverage to show to the jury. But frankly I expect they will just repeat with live testimony whatever they think they need for the penalty phase. The new jury will, of course, be informed of the findings already made by the old jury.

Well, if you add something after the post is already quoted it won't get posted in the reply. Happens to me all the time. The second line was an eta :).

Elleelle, from the last thread- in answer to your question about Jodi dying her hair. Brown is her natural color that she dyed it back to. The reason she did it then was part of her alibi. Since everyone knew her only as a blonde, she'd be less likely to be recognized as a brunette, and her original story was that she was never in Arizona, which is why she used the gas cans- to not have to fill up in the state of Arizona.

The alleged drawing that was smuggled out of the jailhouse by the mitigation specialist was that of a pin-wheel? Can someone post what a pin-wheel drawing looks like? I'm bemused.

This is the "pinwheel" posted on her Twitter :

"What is you definition of skull? The whole head? The whole head does not compromise all of brain."

Here is a definition from medical dictionary at medterms:

Skull: The skull is a collection of bones which encase the brain and give form to the head and face. The bones of the skull include the following: the frontal, parietal, occipital, temporal, sphenoid, ethmoid, zygomatic, maxilla, nasal, vomer, palatine, inferior concha, and mandible. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=5507

And another one from the Cambridge Dictionary:
the bones of the head, which surround the brain and give the head its shape http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/skull

Hope this helps
