My thoughts on this charge....

They have evidence that Hannah was in JM's car and perhaps his apartment. They have evidence that he possessed the date rape drug. They have a witness at Tempo that saw him slip something into her drink. This could explain the charge of abduction with the intent to defile. People have mentioned video or texts of a sexual nature. That makes sense to me as well.

Again, just my thoughts.

At least they have something with some teeth.

Can someone please give me a quick summary on who Jessie Matthews is? Is it the Black dreadlocks guy? TIA.

Thank you for this. I highly encourage people to look through these other cases. It is pretty enlightening on what LE may, or may not know at the moment.

Vulnerable, alone, pretty, young girl running with no buddies at 1am.............spells target. JMO

Target is a good word! Unfortunately, she did look like one, not just for people looking for a sex trafficking victim.

Folks, it just got good.

Thank you Chief Longo, the Commonwealth Attorney, dispatchers, volunteers, and everyone trying to help. I raise my glass to you! Prayers that ppl will be cautious in their own day lives and keep their eyes open for the wanted man.

Yes, but what kind. Taking pornographic pictures can also be a sex crime.

does it really matter its what almost certainly happened after that, that is the biggest issue.

What is so scary is....
didn't someone say there were pl getting in and out of the car?

You're correct we don't KNOW but do you really think they would be that reckless? It's not like this is some backwood redneck sheriff the FBI and tons of agencies are involved. And if you compare their behavior to typical LE behavior I feel like its been obvious that the had something with substance on the guy.

Haven't analysts and commentators been saying that LE's behaviour in this case has not been "typical"? Looks reckless to me. I really hope the guy is truly guilty considering they've destroyed his life ATM.

Yes. On video following her by Sal's and walking with her in video from jewelers.

Could he be charged with abduction just by walking with her if a witness says she was in distress?

This is what I am thinking. The circumstances depicted in the video + eyewitness accounts that suggest she was 'in distress' and did not know the suspect (and therefore would not have willingly gone with him) = the charge.

I wish Longo would have taken a moment to give an explanation of the charges. Attempt to Defile??? Preparing for multiple threads discussing what that actually means.......

If you haven't been corrected it's "intent to defile". I made the same mistake earlier.

My question to that is...why didn't they get the clothing on the first go-round?

Perhaps the clothing was hidden away in an area LE had not put on the Search Warrants originally...

So they had to get a SW with precise places they suspected could be hiding places....

For instance... Under floorboards... In the walls... Etc...

Just some thoughts...

Umm...yes? That is kind of what we discuss here. Not just the end result of a case, but all aspects of it.

Hi everyone... I've spent a good part of the day here trying to "catch up" on everything but I left for awhile and came home to find JM is now suspected of abduction! Of course I missed the PC. Is there a transcript available? I saw a link for the video but I can't watch video atm. Thank you to you all for the informative posts.

God bless Hannah and her family.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but why didn't police detain Matthew when they were following him around and had him in their sights?

Absolutely. Right from the beginning people couldn't understand why she would speak to someone who was black, overweight, had dreads, dressed in shorts, 32, and poor. Everyone has ideas about what each of those things mean to them and why they would never speak to someone with one or more of those qualities. People are drawn to sameness. We tend to judge people similar / familiar to us on their intentions and people different from us on their behavior.

It can go the other way as well. A family members confirmed bias might be innocence and they continue to only see the good. Or they trust someone just because they are also young, white, well dressed and well off...just like them. Those are safe trustworthy qualities to that person.

Or one could simply study the empirical research studies on crime like the 2010 FBI Crime Stats report (for instance) and then address if your own "biases" have merit. You know, take the emotionalism out of it and choose the analytical approach. 'Just a suggestion. It works for me.

JMO..I don't think this case involves a trafficking ring. To somewhat echo what others have said, I think it's possible JM texted someone telling him/her that he had "picked up" (possibly drunk and/or drugged) HG and, maybe even jokingly, said he planned to engage in some sort of sexual act with her. If she were under the influence and he was guiding her by holding her waist, it could be seen as abduction. JMO
