TX TX - Rachel Cooke, 20, Georgetown, 10 Jan 2002

Rachel Cooke's father died Wednesday after battling a long-term illness...

Robert Cooke became very active in missing persons' causes. He held women's self-defense classes all over Central Texas, and Cooke helped search for many missing people.

"On the day Rachel disappeared, Robert [Cooke] made a promise to her that he would never stop looking for her, and he kept that promise," according to his obituary.

Robert Cook was an amazing man.

The fact that his daughter Rachel was just yards away from home when she was taken in broad daylight and Robert Cook was able to work to find her and help others too goes to his character.

He was sweet, kind, and loves his family fiercely.

I did not know he was sick. We all know stress is the biggest killer and I can't imagine anything more stressful than having a child taken one day never to return. Stress brings on diseases of all kinds.

Rest in Peace Robert Cook. You left a legacy of love and strength for your daughters.

Tricia

I feel so much for Rachel's sister - first her sister disappeared and now she has lost her father. How much can a family endure? Best wishes to all of them x

So sad to hear this news! :(

Thoughts & prayers for this sweet family!

From Mr. Cooke's obituary -
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Robert with a donation to a missing persons organization, such as these three very dear to his heart: The CUE Center for Missing Persons, PO Box 12714, Wilmington, NC, 28405, Project Jason, PO Box 59054, Renton, WA, or texasequusearch.org.

Texas Equusearch posted this today. http://texasequusearch.org/2014/11/in-memory-of-robert-cook/

I don't believe this.....it's truly amazing how many parents of missing children pass away too soon. Makes you wonder if dying of a broken heart is real. Mr. Cooke even used to post here right? I just can't believe he's gone. The poor Cooke family.

Family, Friends Pay Final Respects to Father of Missing Teen
Tonight family and friends paid their final respects to Robert Cooke of Georgetown.
...

Fred Thomas, with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office says, "The Rachelle Cooke case is an active investigation here at the sheriff's office. We continue to follow up on leads."
Robert Cooke may be gone. But his goal of finding Rachelle is still very much alive.
The Williamson County Sheriff's office says a $50,000 reward is still being offered to help solve Rachelle Cooke's disappearance.

He was so young. Breaks my heart she was not found before he passed. I hope he now knows what happened to her.

"When Rachel was taken, this community was very close. It was a very small, close community and those first few weeks, thousands of people that I didn't even know... the people I worked with, the people that knew Rachel, they were all out there. It didn't matter, there were people who didn't even know her out here looking..."

Thirteen years later, Janet is still searching for answers. She continues to work with detectives to find out the truth behind Rachel's disappearance.

As time goes on, she says it gets harder and harder because there is no new information.

Missing for 13 Years, Rachel Cooke’s Family Seeks Answers
Updated: Sunday, January 11 2015, 09:14 AM CST

Snipped:

Friends and family laid pink carnations at the foot of the tree they dedicated to Rachel more than a decade ago.

"I love you, baby girl," said Janet, as she kissed her hand and touched the stone placed at the foot of the tree. On the stone is a plaque inscribed with the words, "Rachel Lousie Cooke. Missing since January 10, 2002. Class of 2000."

Rachel’s friends and family know someone has the answers they're looking for, and they won't stop searching until they know what happened.

So sad to read about Mr. Cooke's passing. He was such a champion for his daughter. I think of her, and of them, all the time.
