ETA: I am slow... seems he DID give a better explanation. Preoccupation with appearance due to low self esteem is a much better explanation than "PSYCHOSIS!!!!!!!"

I agree, he wasn't looking because he felt bad about himself. He was looking because he believes he is gorgeous and was just making sure a hair on his wig wasn't out of place. But it is still better than the previous witness...

Totally! I was so relieved when he didn't say "Err, he was probably looking in the mirror because he was having visual hallucinations and looking in a mirror made them stronger" like Allard.

How did a paranoid schizophrenic in the midst of a major psychosis manage to get to and navigate two major airports, sit in an airplane for a minimum of 7 hours (in the window seat no less) and check into two separate hotels. He also managed to stay with two different individuals, one of whom claims to "know mental illness when he sees it", thanks to his stint in a mental institution when he faked a mental illness to get out of going to prison. He also went out and partied with this individual and some of his friends. All the while evading LE by leaving a trail in Paris and then abandoning his identity for a new one before heading to Berlin.

And not one person who had any contact with him in that 9-10 day period had any inkling that he was suffering from a major psychosis, never heard about Manny, Debbie, witches, secret agents, being watched etc., did not describe his voice as whiny and childlike, and not once did he ever act out on any of these people, thinking they were agents, spies, aliens or whatever who were following him and out to do him harm. People who were actually going through his things and asking him questions at airports, blocking him into a confined window seat on an airplane, telling him to urinate and defecate on the floor in Paris (if you want to believe LM on that one), spending all his money and making him remove his wig and expose his identity in Berlin. None of those people triggered anything. But a black car through the window of his apt back in Montreal was all it took for JL's life to end in a such a spectacular way that it needed to be filmed and uploaded to the internet for posterity, just like LM had predicted it would 10 days earlier and threatened that it would 6 months earlier.

I so hope the jury can see through this psychiatric "voodoo" as Christie Blatchford put it.

LM wanted to do this, he planned to do this and he did this. That's all there is to it for me. Does he have a mental illness? Probably. Does it matter and did it play a part in this murder? I don't think so.

I'd like to know how a treating psychiatrist can suggest that LM is not embellishing anything in his history without having involved LE in the many sexual abuse claims. Isn't there a reporting obligation for a psychiatrist?

I have no problem with letting this one go for another week but I always thought they cut the threads off around 50 posts for easier loading for some people? We might only have this week left for testimony so maybe it's better just to leave it?
