Identified! AZ - Tucson, WhtFem UP10566, 18-22, in desert, Apr'81 - Brenda Gerow

How about Barbara Bruno? https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/11582/6/

There's only one pic and it's from 1976 unfortunately. They look to have similarly placed freckles on their noses when you view the larger pics (unless they're just marks on the photo in Barbara's case?)
Barbara Bruno's clothes are the same style as the Jane Doe's clothes and they said she might of went to California which is in the right direction.

Here's a close-up of the photo, next to the facial recon.

Chelmsford police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman believed to be the victim in a 1981 cold case killing...

The photo was recently found in possession of John Kalhauser, a convicted murderer, who refused to identify the woman pictured...

Kalhauser lived in Tyngsboro, MA, at the time the photo is believed to have been taken, and possibly has information about the Arizona cold case, according to police.

Appears to be the same John Kalhauser:

He doesn’t admit guilt, and Diane van Reeth’s family may never know where her remains lie...

Kalhauser, 44, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the second-degree murder of his estranged wife, Diane van Reeth...

Kalhauser’s sentence for van Reeth’s death will run concurrently with the remaining 26 years he owes Massachusetts for a 1979 attempted murder. In that case, Michael Renk was shot three times in the neck, reportedly because he was dating Kalhauser’s ex-girlfriend.

I don't see her in the 1979 Chelmsford HS yearbook.

Wow; very interesting. So we might know what this UID looks like, but not her name?
"
Yeah, that appears to be the case.

Chelmsford is a small town on major commuter routes. It has a fair amount of apartments and rental housing, popular with young professionals and students, mostly from out of the area. Even if she was living in Chelmsford, she could be from anywhere.

Yup. It's also close to NH.

CarlK, other towns you might want to check are Westford, Lowell, Carlisle, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, Nashoba, Littleton...

There's also a college in Lowell. In 1981 I think it would have been the University of Lowell. It's part of the UMass system now but it wasn't then. At the time it had a lot of evening/commuter students.

Not seeing her in any of those you've listed. I checked the following:
Westford: Westford Academy - 1979
Lowell: Lowell HS - 1977
Carlisle: (None Available)
Tewksbury: Tewksbury Memorial HS - 1979
Tyngsboro: Greater Lowell Regional Memorial HS - 1979
Nashoba: (None Available)
Littleton: (None Available)

I was thinking she was either estranged from her family or was originally from outside the US, since it seems as though she wasn't reported missing. (I don't see anyone who looks close on Namus, Doe, etc.)

ETA: actually, I think Deborah Diane Owens resembles the girl in the photo, but that might just be the hair: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/o/owens_deborah.html

Just because she's not in national databases doesn't mean she wasn't reported. Even today very few MA missing people are uploaded unless there's reason to think the person left the area. I'm not defending them; that's just the reality. Even if family reported her missing the odds are local LE just wrote down the information, told them she was an adult and could leave if she wanted, and tossed the report in a file drawer.

Also, mobility at the time was extremely high. If somebody didn't show up for work and somebody else said, "I think she got a job in CA," nobody would have blinked.

I spent last night staring at an image of "Lisa Joy White" missing from Connecticut in 1974. I did my head in and had to step away from the laptop. Back and forth on that photo and then the computer generated image of this doe. I started losing it. I still think there is something there or i have an overactive imagination. (more likely the case)

Lisa Joy White (http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/w/white_lisa.html) with the girl in the photo. Yeah, I see what you mean.

I think she's going to be another that has not been reported missing due to being classified a "runaway" or adult that walked away. I could be wrong; not that familiar with the case. Has anyone dropped the image in google? I'm not gonna be near a computer today
