Verdict watch! ** GUILTY **

Oh thank goodness. Just saw the verdict and sentence. This has been a most horrific case. I was genuinely worried that they would find NCR. My thoughts are with Jun Lin's family and friends. I hope that he can rest in peace now.

May the world remember Jun Lin, and forget Magnotta's existence

(I still really wanted to see him fat though. lol)

This is the best we're gonna get I suppose...

Oh wow on the weight gain! Looks significant. Perhaps he's been medicated for his 'mental condition' whatever that actually is.

Apparently he got in trouble recently when he wouldn't stop eating breakfast to get to the courthouse. Perhaps they just feed the prisoners really, really well.

I followed this case for the first few months and then just couldn't take it anymore. I am just so happy to come here today and find that this jury did the right thing for Jun Lin and his family. Makes me think this jury was just as disgusted as we were about what had been done to this innocent victim. This jury has been brave and honorable. Unfortunately, the gory details will stay in their minds forever, IMO. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

I'm going to donate to these parents who have so greatly suffered and will continue to suffer. That will be my Christmas gift to myself.

Thanks to all of you who stayed through all of this for Jun Lin. I read some on and off, but just couldn't continue.

Prison is too good for Magnotta!

Have a loving, peaceful, and safe Holidays everyone!

Jun Lin, may you rest in peace now.

Thanks to all websleuthers who posted about this case. I appreciated your insights, right from the start back in May 2012, throughout the long waiting period after his extradition, until the trial and verdict. its been a long time.
Let us all remember Jun Lin, finally he and his family got justice.

Merry christmas to all of you!!

Here's a really good article by Christie Blatchford.
I burst into tears at the news — the what-were-they-doing-in-there, needlepointing-the-verdict-on-tiny-pillows-news? — that on the eighth day, a Quebec Superior Court jury found Luka Magnotta guilty of first-degree murder and four other charges.

The tears were of relief, nothing else — relief that the jurors had made their way to the truth of Magnotta, that expert psychiatric jargon didn’t defeat common sense or BS baffle brains and that we can all soon bid a short goodbye to the awful attention-seeking narcissist who killed the gentle Chinese student Jun Lin for no reason other than it kept his own name in the klieg lights of modern celebrity.
Then, its purpose having been served, Magnotta killed the dog, and threw it in the garbage, just as he did with Mr. Lin.

The planet and all in it existed to serve him. People and animals were props and handmaidens to his reflection. Attention was his oxygen, his food, even his aphrodisiac. Though he was a rent boy, a hooker, though he sexualized even conversation, he wasn’t so much into sex (he needed Viagra even as a 20-something) as he was into how he looked during sex, how he was being admired.

I saw this posted on Twitter today. I assume this may be a picture of his cell. Looks pretty damned cushy to me.

I had a room in university like that. Hope that isn't his jail cell.

No way is that a jail cell. It does look like a very nice dorm though. :)

I know this is off topic, but I wanted to say I am glad for finding the websleuths community during this trial. I am grateful to met and interacted with a group of smart, clever and passionate individuals of justice over the course of these three months. This was the first trial i ever really followed upon, and you guys did an outstanding job to following through. I, like the rest of you, have felt like a journey has ended with this verdict. Kamille, Rayemonde, BorgQueen and No_Stone_Unturned, I won't forget who you are, as your contributions have left a good memory with me.

This is the institution that LM was hoping to be spending his time in. Not sure if this is where he's been kept for the past couple of years. I thought I heard LeClair say today that he's been staying here. Some comment about him being at Pinel all this time so someone thinks he's insane?

Anyway here's a picture of a room there from the link...

If he's been staying there, you can see why he'd go for a NCR verdict. I hope if he has been staying there he's put in a regular prison.

MOO

Hasn't he been kept at RDP during the trial? I recall Clifford Olson was transferred from a prison out west to Kingston. Was just wondering if LM will remain in Quebec or will he be sent to a far away province.

If anyone knows.....thanks in advance.
