The cause of the fire is not known. According to Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby, a passing motorist alerted his department and the fire department to the scene. Darby says by the time rescue workers got on the scene the car was fully engulfed in flames.

You raise an interesting point that the first call may have been by law enforcement. Perhaps that is why no 911 call has been released.....because there never was one.

Six states—Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Wyoming—keep 911 call recordings confidential.

Thanks, that's good to know. It still begs the bigger question of who else had reason to be on Herron Road that night? Other than locals with residences accessed by it and law enforcement, it strikes me as a pretty secluded stretch of darkness.

I hate that IMO no one's going to talk that hasn't already, and the only way to solve this case will be through clever investigative work based on forensic and electronic evidence, and the local (modsnip) either ruined/destroyed those clues by accident early on or at least screwed up the chain of custody, exposing any physical evidence they DO have to objections over admissibility. Nothing to see here, nah,Jessica's vehicle physical evidence chain of custody, ummm, tow truck driver stopping by M&M for (Mutiple choice 1.cigs or 2.cold drink or 3. photo op for SM) just move along.

Oh,I almost forgot reporter questioned damage to Jessica's vehicle. Darby said they were attempting to force her trunk open and attributed vehicle damage to that. Darby also seems to allude to all 'details' will be resolved after an arrest.(or words to that effect,I can go back and listen again if you want the exact quote).MOO

Makes me wonder if this person saw another vehicle in the area. If this person came upon the scene and did not pass another vehicle from what ever end of that rd, (herron)? then that tells me the vehicle left in the same direction as the person that came upon the scene was traveling. If this person did see or have a vehicle pass them then that could have and probably was the person/people that did this. Unless they were on foot. jmo idk

Several people are being questioned by detectives, but no arrests have been made. The teen's car, and any potential clues inside, are charred black. Investigators did find a cell phone at the scene. "We do have a phone that we believe is hers and that is what we are attempting to gather the information from," said Hale. Detectives spent Monday going through the phone for clues.

"There was a party going on and she was there," said Chambers' acquaintance Charlotte Wilkerson. "When she left the party, that's when it happened to her."There is surveillance video of Chambers at a convenience store near her home a couple of hours before she died. Panola County Deputies watched it and shot video of at least an hour of it, paying attention to any people who walked in and out of the store. Champion says a judge signed an order so investigators can get Chambers' phone records. He expects to receive those Wednesday.

MSM Source: http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/27600181/man-questioned-in-death-of-jessica-chambers-released
Thirty-one-year-old Derrick Turner says he was picked up Monday morning and was taken to the Panola County jail where he was questioned in the death of 19-year-old Jessica Chambers. "I was just called in for a situation I didn't know nothing about." Turner said he knew Chambers. "But I don't just know her like that because I'm way older than her. So I've seen her around at stores and everything, but I don't just know her like that." Turner said he was not in Courtland, Mississippi when Chambers was discovered lying next to her car on fire. She died not long after she was found. "They was just asking me did I know her or was I sleeping with her, you know," said Turner. "Like I said, I didn't know her like that."Turner did know, "the times I was around her you know, she carried herself she was a good girl. She was a sweet girl so that's why I'm messed up about it, whatever happened to her, I hate it happened you know. "Turner said investigators never told him why he was being questioned in Jessica Chambers death.

December 10th – Lynnsey Fowler and Amber Shields visit crime scene
MSM Source: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/12/10/woman-set-on-fire/20195725/
Lynnsey Fowler and Amber Shields, who said they were close to Jessica Chambers, wanted to see the spot where their friend was attacked.
Fowler kept shaking her head in disbelief as she stared at the charred, rutted ground where Jessica Chambers' car sat after it apparently ran up a slight embankment. Fowler remembers the teen from her sleepovers with her sister.
Fowler said she passed by the scene Saturday on her way to fish for crappie at Enid Lake.
"Sunday morning, I took my phone off the charger and looked at Facebook, like I almost always do, and I saw the Fly High Jessica Chambers page," Fowler said, referring to the digital memorial Chambers' friends and family had set up.
"I got sick to my stomach," Fowler said once she realized what had happened. "I can't believe I didn't see anything when I passed by here. I wish I had. I would have helped her. I would have fought for her if I had to."
Fowler works at the Batesville Sonic Drive-In where Chambers was a frequent customer. She often would order one of those massive Route 44 drinks "that was almost as big as her," Fowler said.
"She was my Sonic baby. She was up there all the time, just all the time," Fowler said. "She always had that smile on her face, always looking in her mirror fixing those eyelashes."
Shields — who, like Fowler, lives close to the crime scene — went to school with Jessica Chambers at South Panola High School where Jessica Chambers graduated in 2013. They hung out there and socially.
"She had fun with life, Shields said. "She was a very likeable person and ready for anything. She got along with everybody."

December 12th 11:09 p.m. - Eric Bibbs officially questioned
MSM Source: http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story...ath-jessica-chambers-says-he-did-not-know-her
One of the people investigators questioned is Eric Bibbs.
"That day that it happened. I had been here with a toothache since about 6 p.m.," said Bibbs. "I think maybe they came by here about 9:30 p.m., they even went to my grandma address. They called my mom."
Bibbs, a married father, lives just down the road from where Jessica Chambers was discovered horribly burned lying next to her burning car. Investigators say Chambers was able to talk with the first responder. Bibbs says the investigator mentioned to him that Chambers had said the name Derrick or Eric.*
"He said there was an accident I think down the road and your name was mentioned," said Bibbs. "And he said I think one of the other people said the only Eric I know in this area is Eric Bibbs."
Bibbs told the detective he did not know Jessica Chambers and wasn't even aware of what had happened to her. The investigator never told him why he was being questioned.

MSM Source: http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story...ard-fund-grows-lab-results-expected-next-week
George Mister and Rachael Tutor say they're the latest to be questioned in Jessica Chambers murder.
"They kept us up there for like 6,7,8 hours," said Mister. "I took a lie detector test, I took a swab test."
Investigators wouldn't confirm the pair was questioned, but a jail log shows Mister's name on the date in question.
"They questioned me about a text message that I sent Jessica, two days before, and I guess that was why they may have thought something, I don't know," said Tutor.

Friday, December 29th 4:51 p.m. - Cause of death
MSM Source: http://www.clarionledger.com/story/...hambers-investigators-seek-suspects/21005697/
Chambers was found on Herron Road in Courtland a little after 8 p.m. Dec. 6, walking away from her burning vehicle with burns over 98 percent of her body. Coroner Gracie Gulledge said the cause of the young woman's death was thermal injury. Officials classified Chambers' death as a homicide, but in spite of interviewing what they have said is more than 100 potential witnesses, they say they still have yet to emerge with a prime suspect.

That's a pretty narrow road and Jessica's car was found not on the road but pulled into a some kind of driveway that has a gate. I think she pulled over because someone came up behind her and flashed their lights. I think they could tell by the way her car was pulled into the drive whether she had been coming from the west or from the east. The person who discovered her car may have passed her attacker's vehicle and not realized it. I just don't believe the attacker was on foot.

This is so helpful! Is there a way to make it a sticky?

As an avid fisherman I would like to know what Fowler was using for night time Crappie fishing. If the answer is minnows then a bait shop should have footage or a remembrance of her purchase. She should also have a minnow bucket, I never use worms for targeting Crappie. Some half full worm boxes or even Crappie in the freezer would help eliminate her. I'll state again, Hurron road would be a terrible route to get to Lake Enwid.

I've noticed that all individuals interviewed have referenced being asked questions pertaining to a love triangle, so the law must have records suggesting such a circumstance. When I start to think of the love triangle theory I can't get the image of the gal with Mr. Mister rolling her eyes about how he was his good friend. Something seems off with that reaction.

How many 'girls' do you know who just go crappie fishing alone at night? I might have missed something here but I go the impression she went alone.

My humble opinion is that the fact that they are not talking speaks VOLUMES about who did this. It's like a neon flashing arrow.

The cause of the fire is not known. According to Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby, a passing motorist alerted his department and the fire department to the scene. Darby says by the time rescue workers got on the scene the car was fully engulfed in flames.

(BBM)
With all due respect, where did you conclude this from? I read the article and it clearly says a "Passing motorist alerted his department".

If a COP would have pulled on the scene he would have been duty bound legally to get out and see what he/she could do also they carry fire extinguishers.

I don't see how this is even a viable option.

Well, I did get warm, then my tongue felt sort of fuzzy... Then I hurled. Fighting the flu here still. All jocularity aside, the guy sickens me with his laissez faire law enforcement attitude. The crime is not going to solve itself, no one is going to strut on in and say, Joe Jocularity did it, because if that was going to happen it would have happened already. They're going to have to shake some people up if they expect anything to develop. Just re-examining material that got you nowhere for the last 20 some days isn't going to cut it.

BRAVO! and to that I say WTH is with the FBI. A federal agency comes in there and can't help clean that up any more than this? My faith is failing. Not that I had faith in the government to begin with but come on.

According to Darby, a motorist alerted DARBY's department. Darby, being the sheriff. Motorist being a civilian. JMO

I've missed a lot. Is there a reliable reference to this more airtight than speculation?
If true, I can only imagine how traumatized a passerby might be from seeing this, even more so since all the speculation of gang involvement or reprisal of some sort.
Don't know that this happened, but with fire and rescue being so close, maybe they even told the 911 caller to not leave his/her car, or maybe they talked to the caller continuously until they arrived on the scene.
But didn't one source say the fire "chief" at first thought it was just a car until he saw a person on the ground?? (Yes) And which is CORRECT: saw her next to the car OR in the street? Not seeing any of the different versions corrected by LE. Probably a good reason for that also?

BBM

IMHO, common sense rules out "walking" as well as "Jessica talking on a 911 call". It would take an enormous amount of mental control for any human being who was suddenly engulfed in a flaming holocaust to remain composed enough to walk or talk. I doubt very seriously that Jessica Chambers was that sort of disciplined mind.

As to the car or the street, I believe the WMCTV Action News broadcast on the night of the horror could be compared to any other local tv broadcasts. That ought to eliminate regional and national material. However in a final analysis, I still believe common sense would dictate that a human being suddenly trapped inside a holocaust of flames, and vehicle, is not going to have the ability to escape too far away from the origin of that horror before ending upon the nearest ground.

As to the 911 caller's call..until a transcript is released, I do not believe that any referenced MSM "fact" carries any accuracy .

it could have been an off duty cop or other employee driving their own vehicle. At this point, we don't know if that person even stopped or kept driving.

NONE......great point! I would also note she mentioned visiting the spot where her friend was attacked and she also talks of how she couldn't have done this to her own dog. Seems like at a minimum she knows something.

LOL I see the exact opposite.
I don't think LE has a clue who murdered Jessica.
