TX - Hostage situation at TX hospital

Oh no I hope they can find a way to end this peacefully. I just heard about it on SkyNews UK.

Seems to be very little information so far. It worries me for all of the patients in ICU. Most of them are there because they need constant care. I hope the man doing this is allowing care to continue to the patients. Sounds like a very emotionally charged situation. Hopefully hospital staff and LE can talk this guy down.

"Authorities now say they do not consider an incident at a Texas hospital involving a distraught father to be a hostage situation.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said Saturday night that a man was distraught about his son's medical condition and was with him inside a hospital room in the critical care unit of the Tomball Regional Medical Center. The sheriff's office said it was still unclear whether the man was armed.

Authorities had earlier said the man was believed to be holding at least two hostages."

Apparently he barricaded himself in the room with his sick son.

Oh goodness. Has the incident been resolved?

"According to officials, the man is inside the hospital room with his son in the critical care unit. The sheriff's office said it was unclear whether the man was armed.

The man has not made any threats or demands, said Detective Jimmy Harral of the Tomball Police Department. No hospital employees were being held hostage, he said.

Authorities had earlier said the man was believed to be holding at least two hostages."

Latest information from article above.

According to twitter #tomball the situation has ended, man surrendered without incident

"A police spokesman says a father who became distraught over his son's condition at a southeast Texas hospital and caused a standoff did have a gun and pointed it at a nurse."

Interesting. This latest report seems to clear things up :moo:

Although I am thankful LE was able to bring this to a resolution, I stand by my initial reaction, that this was a terrifying scene for all who were involved. It could have turned out much worse. There's no place for a weapon in a critical care unit.

The confusion is understandable, I guess. Again, very thankful for the outcome and that no one was physically hurt.
