I've seen vans that said either "Medical Examiner" or "Coroner." This is in addition to any other emergency vehicles that might also be in the area.

Who is responsible for the chain of custody in terms of getting the body from the recovery site to the M.E.'s office? The Coroner or M.E's personnel. The death investigation begins when the coroner's office is called to alert them on a body found. Either a representative from that office or the coroner him/herself responds, depending on jurisdiction size and M.E. office.

That said, it's already been confirmed that no body was involved in this incident and that it was a purposeful and planned street closing by the County Solicitor's office to do some work they had planned to do related to the Moorer case.

I have personally seen body bags at crime scenes being taken by: SUVs (unmarked, but having government plates), LE vehicle (any), ambulance, pickup truck (did not see government plates on that one, but it had one detective and one uniformed officer in it when it left). The coroner doesn't always have a van at their disposal, and skeletal remains fit in a smaller body bag than fresh remains so a van is not always necessary. My point is that just because you don't see a coroner's van, it doesn't mean there were no remains. That is an incorrect logic leap.
 
Okay how about this leap:

The media has already confirmed (yes, confirmed) that the road closing was due to Horry County Solicitor's office conducting some work in the area for the Moorer case. NO body was found there. This was a planned closing. This wasn't a trick to get some unmarked vehicle in to pick up remains. There was no body found there.

I was thinking since they said they are not anticipating any more closures, they found what they were looking for...evidence of some kind. But, I guess as others are saying, it is just as possible they were doing a recreation, or time measurements of some kind.
 
My guess is they were doing time and distance and other specific measurements including recreating various things so they can counter any defense claims that they didn't, as opposed to a search for something. Part of lining their ducks up for a trial and doing their homework.

I would love to do this (not really:scared:) but, I think you would certainly need a search warrant or at least the home owner's permission. They'd probably think you were crazy though too. And, I'm not sure if you would need the permission of Grand Strand Water Authority? I know most septic tanks have a chain and lock on them put on by GSWA but some do not. You would certainly need their help to pump the tanks out.

Since so much time has passed, I am not sure there would be much left to recover although in this case, they found a body in a septic tanl (or at least the remnants of one) 10 years later! I guess it all depends on the level of septic gasses.

I am about to re-watch this video. It was shortly after I watched it that I started to think about the possibilities of the whole septic tank scenario. The main thing that struck me was that the flesh and bones from a corpse break down super-fast and after time, it would be nearly impossible to recover much of anything.

Even a few more quick searches online, I found many other cases (including on WS) where bodies were dumped or found in septic tanks.

Did anybody notice, that on myhorrynews.com, they have an article about the recent road closing.

(Actually, I know it was on myhorrynews.com, and it was either the article about the road closure or the article about the new bond hearing. Not sure which, but I will find it, and edit to add the link.)

In the article it states that they closed the road for a 'search' , not a reenactment.

Wonder if there is any truth to this..?

Actually, after talking with my girlfriend, it was on WMBF. And the statement has since been retracted.

I should know by now (thanks to you guys!) To take screenshots of information like this.

I showed it and brought it up to my girlfriend, and we had a pretty in depth conversation about it. So I know I am not going crazy, even though the news reporting around here may make you think you are...

I am guessing it was just hear say, and that is why it was retracted.

My appologies for the misinformation.

(I still think there's a good chance SM's occupation is key as to Heather's whereabouts...construction site, materials, equipment...jmo)

(She also could have been swept out to sea)

So many possibilities. I'm not sure she will ever be found. :(
 
So are we back to (or still with) the theory that one of the M's took a sudden roadtrip all the way down to within an hour of Disneyworld to dispose of HE's body? Or, alternatively, hung on to HE's body for almost 3 weeks and then took those remains with them when the family went down to FL for Sid to run the Disney half marathon mid-Jan 2014?
 
Im curious about the tool thing in the bed of SM's truck.
Could she have been put in there and disposed of a new one purchased and placed in the truck?
