VERDICT WATCH - Sentencing of Jodi Arias - Retrial Day 43

I have a question. Earlier today the 2 questions that the jury had were referred to as #5 and #6. Were there 4 previous jury questions- if so what were the previous 4? If not, how did the questions get labeled #5 and #6?

Barf, still going for the "little mentally ill girl" that suffered DV. I bet that chair won't screw down any lower, or she would have done so.

Jodi has nothing on some of the HARDENED criminals that reside at Perryville. She will meet plenty of women that will make her life miserable. Yes Jodi committed a heinous crime, but there are just as many nasty evil women that have resided there a lot longer than she has. They already have a pecking order, a hierarchy so to speak. It will not be club med for her, by any means.

YES! You said it much better than I did. Your post made me smile! The murderer will be way way down on that pecking order.

Has anyone considered that maybe Travis himself doesn't agree with the DP? And to whatever extent his energy can sway things, it is? Humans get caught up with revenge. That's one of our curses.

I think his family would know what he thought about the death penalty. I also think that they would not be wanting the death penalty if it was something that he didn't agree with. I trust that they know what he would want.

There are many just like her already there. Lots of psychopaths. Let them make each other miserable.
Female psychopathy is rare. Hare estimates only 20% of all incarcerated prisoners are psychopathic, including men. Jodi shouldn't be allowed access to others because most people incarcerated aren't psychopathic. Many female prisoners are incarcerated for non-violent offenses, like drugs or prostitution. In 2009, prisoners convicted of non-violent crimes (I'm including all crimes not against another human being) accounted for 60% of Perryville's population. Murderers ranked less than 10%.

She seems to be smirking/smiling in that pic. Someone (hell I volunteer) needs to knock that smirk/smile off her face.

MOO

I agree with you, initially when (and if) she gets into general population she will make friends. However I think because of her personality she will have arguments and disagreements with women when they don't do what she wants. And I think that's where the hiarchy will come in. A "queen bee" type isn't going to just let her come in and take over. She might manipulate a few women, but I think she's going to have clashes with others. And they will already have their girls on their side.

Right on! I believe, and have all along, that she will receive the death penalty - not by the State of Arizona, but at the hands of the one too many inmates rubbed the wrong way by her, and her 'unlimited funds'. I just hope we get to hear of it, and that the Alexander family can wait that long.

No glasses? She reminds me of the cat who swallowed the canary. Ugh. Poor Alexander family. I cannot imagine how this feels for them.

Travis is not here to give his opinion. You think he is here swaying the jury for life, and for his family to be in pain. Nope. His family is not being revengeful. This is a heinous, premeditated slaughter of another human being. If this crime doesn't fit the DP, then I don't know what does. Now, whether the jury gets it right is another thing. The State charged this correctly.

When jurors are considered "death qualified" to serve on a jury that CAN render the death penalty, they have not yet seen evidence, heard testimony, etc. Their ultimate decision is based on what transpires during the trial. I'm certain that all 12 jurors (plus alternates) were open and honest about being able to vote for death IF - and only IF - the evidence presented during the trial warranted the DP. I will not fault someone who wasn't convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that Ms. Arias deserves the death penalty.

I have been an observer on this website since the beginning of the 1st trial and while I only registered last week, I still hesitated to comment. Your comment, BetteDavis, has finally prompted me to join in.

Many strong opinions are located on this board and I was beginning to wonder if the majority that I have read reflected the mindset of a typical juror and that thought terrified me more than the thought of Jodi Arias receiving a life sentence over death.

Thank you. :blowkiss::blowkiss: Thank you for restoring my faith in every day people being able to witness a trial such as this and compartmentalizing their personal feelings for the defendant while viewing the proceedings with impartiality and what I believe is a true ability to render a verdict according the instructions they have been given. I would hope many of us (disclosure: born and raised in Arizona, support the death penalty and am probably all of 3 miles away from the courthouse as I type this) would be able to go into a jury room and make a decision based on the evidence presented, not what we secretly know we would want if we were in the Alexander's shoes. IF hung, this is the SECOND time a jury has come back with the inability to sentence her to death. Why the assumption is automatically one of stealth jurors, or what I am guessing are reasonably intelligent and professional citizens being 'hoodwinked' by a 'slimy' defense team or Arias manipulations for the second time is confusing to me. IMO, the reasonable assumption would be that the state failed to present the evidence that we should require in order to reach a verdict of that magnitude.

Now, with that said, I can't thank all of you enough for the perspectives, the knowledge and the thought provoking posts that you have unwittingly been sharing with me for well over a year.

i dunno what this is about but its just a new tweet

Yes, I do think she is. She can not take on anyone. She got Travis at a bad moment that she orchestrated and lost it on him.. However in jail she won't have 2 knives and a gun to keep people from attacking her. She will get her butt whooped by anyone she attempts to go after. She is a monster when she has a plan and a blind spot. In prison she is new meat. She is a mousy little nothing of a girl.

Agree to disagree? Her ex boyfriends said she was strong physically. And we do not know how it happened with Travis. Respectfully.

No, I think Travis would be sad to know that his life was not seen as valuable as a female victim who had been murdered by her domestic violence abuser where the state was asking for death.

I think if this had happened to anyone Travis loved he would want the defendant to face the ultimate punishment. I think he would have been there in full support wanting the death penalty just like his siblings want for him.

And then there are those that are not incarcerated that are not counted, say CA for one. I'm thinking that study needs to be updated to see what todays numbers are.
