She's in freaking jail!! Just what "affairs" does she have that she needs to put in order?

Totally agree. I think he was trying to buy her a few more days of the "good life", unlimited commissary, video chats, etc, but the special cornflake couldn't behave herself.

It's a moot point now though since the whole reason for allocution was to get the jury to spare her life. Since the jury hung, her life is spared by default, with a life sentence to be handed out from the judge. Thus, this failure to allocute will not be a factor in any appeals.
Quite true, but I believe she was expecting, and maybe even counting on, the DP.

I understand what you are saying. I believe she may have had good intentions going on this jury, but, something tells me she is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and discussed this case with friends and family that may have influenced her thought process. Of course, we do not have proof of this. Going in deliberations and not budging is suspicious, IMO. I do think that some people see JA in person and see how tiny she is, therefore, how can she commit this horrible crime unless she had a good reason to -> abused woman. Also, Dr. F and Geff may have some sparked some emotions within her.

I could understand her mindset going in regarding under what circumstances would a woman kill a man and abuse is certainly a strong reason. Usually that doesn't involve premeditation but sometimes it could if the fear was so great they needed to plan their actions well. However, I am not able to understand how that mindset could not be changed once in the company of other jurors deliberating on the evidence. It has been said the vote was something like 6-6 in the beginning. What made those others change their minds and not this one juror?

Even with all that considered, this jury was to weigh aggravtors vs mitigators. No one has reported, that I am aware of, that J17 gave reasons for her belief that the mitigator of abuse was so strong that it trumped all else. I personally do not think she believed that herself, but rather she had an agenda and stood her ground in order to carry that out.

Finally, Elle...have you ever seen Jodi in person? I am just wondering because I have seen you post other times about how tiny she is. What about her makes her appear tiny to you? Don't forget they had her chair way down almost to the floor to make her look small--are you thinking that someone seeing her sitting that way in person might think she is tiny? Because I don't think the killer is tiny at all--every description I have seen of her says she is average to slightly above average height and normal weight for her height. IOW, not tiny.

J17 reportedly did say she saw a normal girl where she expected to see a monster.

Wow! That's all I have to say about this. Except for --the fact that CMJA isn't very intelligent at all. She'd rather bite off her nose to spite her face. (My dad used to use that little phrase about weird people.)

The reason she won't give another allocution is she knows what a joke her last one was. She will never beg for mercy or explain WHY she feels justified in butchering Travis Alexander. MOO

This is a heavily moderated forum and look at the comments that have been expressed about J17, and that's with a tight rein and what has been allowed to get through. Now think about unmoderated places out there like Facebook and Twitter and others. You think J17's address or phone or email hasn't been published somewhere? It would not surprise me that threats could have been lobbed to J17 (or would to any juror who voted against the way that most people wanted them to).

I'm not defending J17 or her will-speak-for-$$ husband at all, but there are many seriously cray-cray people out in the world whose set of skills do not include logical thinking and rational actions. Anger, rage, all kinds of emotions spur crazy into action. Remember the hoards of people who stood outside the Anthony house in FL screaming at all hours of the day or night? Remember how some of them even brought their kids to witness their lunacy? I remember that. It went on for months.

OK then, here's a question. That is one line in the article, the rest is Montgomery's statement. So, how would the newspaper KNOW she retained an attorney? She, nor her lawyer made a statement to them in the article. How would they know this? Is she communicating with ja 'fans' & they can't ever keep their mouths shut? Are they advising her? Did she do a video chat with arias on Sat., too? ja is such the advice giver.
What does she have 'to defend herself from"?

It's possible that the reporter called her to comment and was told "call my attorney." Whether she has one or not.
At this point I don't see how she could possibly sue anyone. And also, IMO, nobody - with the possible exception of Dr Phil - will care to interview her for money or give her a book deal.

Based on the statement released by the county attorney, the "threats" against juror 17 can not presently be verified. If juror 17 were in fact receiving threats, why would the county attorney not have copies of those threats? Perhaps because they don't exist?

She's a psychopath. They have to control everything. If they ever give in it is not real, only the appearance of giving in for purposes of manipulation and gaining the upper hand. The court said no to Jodi's demands; she doesn't like being told no so she dug in her heels and wouldn't budge.

Awww her fans from other Countries will not be able to send the "Goddess" a care package :giggle:

PAYMENT: We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit / debit cards and prepaid cards (that have a verifiable United States address). When paying by credit card be sure
to include the card number, expiration date, card verification number (3 digit card verification number found on the back of the card), card member’s name, address and phone

In addition to that, they can now only receive those packages from people on their approved visitor's list. Wonder just how many of her fans are going to be on that list and how many will actually be visiting now that visits will be so restricted.

Moving target of time, which is still moving forward. Do we know for a fact that someone hasn't attempted to get to her home? Do we know for a fact that in the last few days someone hasn't made a phone call or made a threat of some kind on social media? Maybe they haven't, but would it surprise you that there could be some seriously pizzed-off and irrational people who could do such a thing? Just because we haven't heard about it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened in some form or won't still happen. What I've learned in following murder trials is this: the number of irrational and idiotic people far surpasses the number anyone thinks it will. Just spend a few hours reading Facebook and Twitter for hundreds of examples.

BBM - Her DL stated what? 5'7" I believe. In photos with Travis, she's almost as tall as him.
To me that is way tall, I'm 5'1" & often wondered, I've seen many comments about her being tiny, petite. I am petite, she is not.

JMO--Who knows what the truth is? But just for the moment, let's suppose someone is really close to a felon or two. :) They might have a few attorney's numbers on speed dial.

JMO again, the only advice I can see an attorney giving them is say nothing, stay off the internet and move along.

Honestly I am more concerned for the jurors that voted for death. Their names have been listed, along with some of their facebook links, even some middle names/initials. I don't see the ones that wanted the death penalty being so concerned that JA did NOT get death that they would go after juror 17. JA was found guilty of premeditated 1st degree murder. Now on the flip side of that I DO see how the ones that are supportive of JA would go after the ones that did vote for death. They have also shown themselves to not be thinking clearly at all.

MOO

I wasn't aware he said that, that's disappointing. Maybe with time and perspective he'll realize that if he and the rest of the jury could see the truth, it should also have been obvious to a professional with access to the same information, and in that light it makes her testimony intentionally biased, and her motives less than honorable.

That's interesting because someone (can't remember who) posted the other day that the jurors reported that they didn't put much stock in what any of the DT witnesses had to say.

Maybe it's a context issue again.

The important thing to remember is they didn't believe the defense...and that to me means they didn't believe their witnesses. What else could it mean?

Is it true that MDLR will have a two year ban before she can visit Arias in Perryville? I have read that a few times. Was it noted on the AZ Mitigation Specialist Contract page?

Petite can also mean slim in size (weight) and not necessarily in height.

That's why the DT always had her sit in a kiddy chair.

It's a problem that anyone releases any juror's name without their express consent. But in the end JA did not get the DP and J17 was the reason that jury hung. In terms of exposure and anger, the one stands out more than the other 11. (IMO). Have any of the 11 claimed to be or feel threatened? Haven't heard one of them say that.

You can get "society's use of the death penalty is a form of revenge", but that would be from a text that's fairly philosophical (and therefore complex). It would belong in the realm of social justice or a discussion of the Old Testament or René Girard's Violence and the Sacred. From what I can tell, J17 would not be up to wading through this kind of material. Trust me, it's very difficult: there aren't a whole lot of people who can casually dip into Girard and come away with a glimpse of understanding. I imagine J17 was coached about what to say or what to believe, and that someone gave her the vocabulary.

Very interesting. I can see where the killer fell victim to her own mimetic desire.
