Here is where those photos of the possible suspects came from that Dog the Bounty showed on CNN:

http://charlottetownpolice.com/reports/2670

This is in Prince Edward Island (in Atlantic Canada).

At first glance I thought they were too fat, but then I wondered if they had stuffed their shirts with stuff to change their look. We kept talking about disguising themselves in terms of facial hair, glasses and hats, but I certainly wasn't thinking about changing the look of their body type. No one would think to look for guys with such big guts, so even if this isn't them (which I suspect it's not) it's worth a closer look and warrants keeping an eye out for fatter guys.

They were shoplifting Canada Goose jackets.

I

What caught my eye is the guy's footwear -- the shower shoes w/ socks. And the un-ironed shirt. And the fact that they were shoplifting clothing -- esp. jackets, which would be needed in PEI (cold even in June). But who are the other 2 guys?

ETA: well, finally worked my way through all the posts I missed today, and now we know it isn't them :blushing:

Listening to Lenny DePaul (former head of the US Marshall Service) on @NPR's AirTalk on KPCC

(Paraphrasing)

He believes Mrs. Mitchell was a red herring and essentially Plan B. They escaped on Plan A. The US Marshall's are actively working locally, in Canada and Mexico. Yes, they are searching in NY, but they could just as well be listening on the air here (in SoCal/California).

The lead agency is the NYSP, but they are working in conjunction with other agencies.

Pat Morrison: Where do you think they are?
LDP: they're sitting down somewheres comfortable in Canada or where no one would think of looking.

This is an incredible interview! I will try to find a link so you all can hear it for yourselves.

@KClukey_TU lyle Mitchell leaving jail this morning

Another twist in #PrisonBreakNY story: alleged accomplice Joyce Mitchell's husband Lyle visited her in jail this AM (per @GriffJenkins)

https://twitter.com/pdoocy

Don't see any reference to it yet in other correspondent's (GF) twitter

delivering divorce papers? But...just wondering...it was mentioned earlier that Lyle had trouble reading (maybe some sort of learning disability -- like dyslexia??) -- maybe he's not keeping up with all the media and tweets

<snip> Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie has not commented much on the husband, other than to say he's under investigation, but he told CNN on Tuesday that Lyle Mitchell had hired attorney Peter Dumas.

The meeting was cut short when Lyle Mitchell said he also had an attorney, Johnston said.

Believe this ^^ refers to meeting this morning between Lyle & Johnston, Tillie's attorney.

Mr. Dumas, 47, is well known as a defense attorney from numerous “high-profile criminal cases” in Franklin, Clinton, Essex and St. Lawrence counties, according to a news release from his campaign. Mr. Dumas said he has practiced law for 15 years.

So Lyle hired some hotshot high-profile attorney while Tillie was appointed a public defender. Interesting.

This whole thing does not even make sense. We heard they could go behind the cell wall climb down to the area and cut the pipe for at least 5 hours a night. They had constructions workers tool boxes. I forgot what kind of tool box). So why did even need Tilly? Why tell her at all? And imo Sweat could have easily escaped during any night and steal money and bikes or whatever because security at this prison is a joke.
To add to that, If the holes were cut in the wall so that they could climb behind to the area where the pipes were, WHY didn't ANY construction worker notice a hole cut out in the wall from the pipe side and report it?

Agree that inmates shouldn't be permitted to wear civilian clothing. But, I think I'm rather in favor of (reasonable) good behavior rewards -- otherwise, what motivation would they have not to be constantly fighting or attacking the guards, or whatever.

Can they record conversations between husband & wife during prison visits?

At the risk of sounding repetetive, annoying, and somewhat frustratingly confident, that's not them. One has a watch on. Like he really took the time to steal accessories? JMO of course

inmates can wear civilian clothing but not watches? Plus, that 3rd dude, their real getaway driver (?) maybe had a few things for them?:nevermind:

Yup especially the lifers. They just need to find incentives that have no way of becoming a potential danger in the future.

It's already been confirmed to not be them. There is a link posted somewhere up thread (hopefully someone else can find it again, on my phone) where the local police stated the suspects in the shoplifting have been identified and they are not the NY escapees.

Re: why didn't anyone see a hole in the other side of the cell and think it was odd - there was a lilnk a short time ago about the guards having the key to the catwalk that leads behind the cells taken from them because they would go in there and shut down electricity to people's cells as punishment sometimes and the inmates complained about it. :gaah:

And, I believe there was an article that said that there were rectangular holes there already for air vents or some sort of vented opening, which was speculated to be why they used grey / silver spraypaint on the cardboard rectangles instead of green to match the walls.

I will try to find a link. If anyone else remembers this and has a link please do go ahead and post it or at least let me know I"m not imagining it!

On TWCNews.com right now they're showing some of the LE out there and one outfit says NYDOCCS (I think it was), some said CERT, and I saw someone else with a Forest Ranger patch and a POLICE vest over it, so add them to the people who are out there every day potentially putting their lives on the line.
