Sasha Samsudean appeared happy in the hours before she was killed.

Wearing white skinny jeans and a blue dressy blouse, the smiling 27-year-old Orlando woman was captured on surveillance video walking back into her Uptown Place Apartment complex about 1:45 a.m. Saturday after a night out with friends.

But then something went wrong.

Though it remained unclear what happened after the image was taken, the scene inside of her third-floor apartment led investigators to declare her death a homicide.

Seems to me the same camera that captured her coming into her building in should also have captured whomever was in her apartment.

Sasha Samsudean’s body was discovered at Uptown Place Apartments in Orlando Saturday night, where she was last seen going into her apartment. That’s off of North Orange Avenue.

Security guard arrested

The one man hired to protect a 27-year-old Florida woman has been arrested for her murder.

A security guard at Sasha Samsudean's Orlando apartment complex was arrested Friday on charges of first-degree murder after police say his fingerprints and footprints were found inside of her home.

Police say Stephen Michael Duxbury, 33, broke into Samsudean's apartment and strangled her to death shortly after she returned home from a night out with friends on Oct. 17.

Given how many years I've spent reading true crime, I have come to feel like single women should not be trusting of the men who work in their apartment complexes - whether it be maintenance men, landscaping, security guards, etc. --- 99% of these men are fine, but the sad truth is that the bad ones are given a major advantage to find targets when they are in these jobs.

From that same article:

Shortly after she returned home, they were both seen walking together around the complex - Samsudean appearing intoxicated - but Duxbury said he was only helping her find her keys in her parked car, police said.

"As a security guard, he used his access to prey on someone who was very vulnerable," Orlando police Chief John Mina said Friday, according to the Sentinel.

Surveillance video captured Samsudean and Duxbury laughing and walking together down a stairwell at 2:25 a.m., police said.

They walked to the first-floor garage and returned into the building about 20 seconds later.

They walked back up the stairwell. At this point, about 2:27 a.m., Samsudean kept bumping into the walls — appearing intoxicated.

At 6:36 a.m., Duxbury exited the second floor of the building with two trash bags. He walked into the second floor of the parking garage, where his vehicle was parked, and returned into the building at 6:38 a.m.

His shift ended at 6 a.m. But, police said, he didn't leave the property until 6:39 a.m.

Thanks for the update. Was this freak background checked? God knows how many apts he's been lurking in. What a shame.

Good job LE! I bet he thought he got away with it.

Yep, I have personal experience with that. Also, if you live in an apt always have an interior lock on the door so that anybody else with a key (maintenance, security, mgt, etc) cannot enter if you are inside.

This is his linkedin but I haven't found a Facebook page for him yet.

His LinkedIn states he was a pharmaceutical tech in the Armed forces. Could he have drugged her? In any event what a piece of crap. She probably felt safe that he was walking her back to her car. She was with "security". He deserves extra hell for that. So sad.
