Hoping that the people are feeling happy and relieved that they are finally escaping that hell-hole.
Wondering though, if they realize just how cold it can get here and also that in Ontario, schools now have a very progressive sex education?
Many in the Muslim community have protested that education and pulled their children out from school, hope the new residents will embrace it for their children's sake. imo, speculation

"Most heading for military bases

As many as 900 refugees a day are expected to arrive from Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon. The vast majority of them will arrive in Toronto and Montreal.

Sources say most of the newcomers will initially be housed in military bases, which have been preparing for their arrival. Other kinds of housing will also be used, including hotels and abandoned hospitals."

"How does a liberal society cope with immigrants who don’t share its values? It is an issue that Western cities from Paris to Copenhagen to London are confronting. Toronto is no exception. Despite its success at absorbing hundreds of thousands of newcomers – an achievement admired around the world – this city is not immune to the tensions that can come when a largely secular society takes in throngs of people with strong religious or cultural beliefs.
Look at what is happening in Thorncliffe Park. The high-rise enclave on the edge of the Don Valley is a magnet for new immigrants, many of them socially conservative Muslims from South Asia and the Middle East. This week, parents there staged a strike against the province’s new sex education curriculum, pulling hundreds of schoolchildren out of class to protest. They say their kids will learn too much, too soon. They say mothers and fathers, not educators, should decide what kids learn about sex and when they learn it. They say a lot more, too".

he has a lot to say about the refugee crisis as Greece is arguably suffering the worst burden at the moment:
eg "“The invasion of Iraq was a great example of the inanity of the west. Syria and Iraq were very fragile states but by creating the rupture, it propelled a shockwave.”"

‘There are many, many broken families’: Paris victims and their stories

"That Friday night, Nov. 13, was unseasonably warm, and Parisians had filled the soccer stadium, the concert hall and the sidewalk cafes. The terrorists took the lives of at least 130, among them lovers of music and art and beauty and design and the pleasure of conviviality. “The France that the attackers wanted to kill was youth in all its diversity,” French President François Hollande told lawmakers, “with most of the dead under the age of 30. Their names were Mathias, Quentin, Nick, Nohemi, Djamila, Helene, Elodie, Valentin, and I’m forgetting so many others. What was their crime? Being alive.”

An even more shocking article about the multi-million dollar people smuggling business operating in Europe

People smuggling: how it works, who benefits and how it can be stopped

"One of Egypt’s most active smugglers is a Syrian who estimated he earned about £1.5m in 2014 sending an estimated 10,000 migrants to Italy. That was after payments to middlemen, sailing crews, shipowners – and the police. “If I want to smuggle 300 [migrants], the authorities will [arrest] 50 and let 250 go, to show the Italians they are doing some work. Maybe they [take] 100,000 Egyptian pounds ($12,800) per operation,” said the smuggler, who called himself Abu Uday"

Belgium is doing the right thing, despite the US would not allow this "right thing." Apparently, with the imminent threat, Belgium police do not need a judge's order to conduct searches. And, the searches have netted many arrests. And, if you are unaware, there is a Sharia4Belgium movement (check it out online). This movement has not dissolved, despite claims to the contrary.

I am headed for a week in Belgium this summer - certainly hope the terrorism is contained. And, yes, I will be in Brussels, Lieges and also within a stone's throw from Charleroi where the latest terrorists were arrested.

"The threat is imminent, precise," Reynders said on Belgian television network RTL. "We're talking about possible attacks by several individuals, heavily armed."

Turns out Texas is one the top five states with large Muslim communities.

One can only imagine how that state would deal with a similar threat involving "heavily armed terrorists". Explosives are hard to defend against but "heavily armed" is another thing entirely.

It would be hard to find a "soft" target crowd once the threat was known, there would be equally "heavily armed" citizens everywhere. Gunning down 100+ innocents without resistance would be pretty much impossible.

My thinking is it's time to militarily ramp it up against this criminal organization. Wipe out all of daesh producing oil wells

A Belgian anti-terrorism judge on Monday charged a suspect with involvement in the Paris attacks, while releasing 15 other people arrested at the same time, the federal prosecutor's office said.

"The investigating judge specialised in terrorism cases placed into custody a man arrested during the operations of last night. He is charged with participating in activities of a terrorist group and with terrorist attack (Paris)," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

A French blogger has called on fellow Muslims to 'protect our beautiful religion' by hunting down the 'impostors who try to pass as Muslims and kill people.

"'This way we're going to end up with a civil war, an ideological war. It can get very ugly.'
He goes on: 'So I say to all Muslims of France, protect our beautiful religion. Let's go and hunt down these impostors who try to pass as Muslims and kill people.'
'It's not the government that is going to do the work, not state security or the intelligence services or all that, it's us, us Muslims who go the mosque, us Muslims who share the values of the republic.
'It's up to us to speak up about the slightest hint of something fishy and to refer it to the authorities.'
Later in the video he says: 'It is up to us, Muslims of France who have our religion in our hearts, the values and principles of Islam, religion of peace and sharing. It's up to us to *advertiser censored** up the s*** that's inside our religion.'
He adds: 'Let us rise up. Even though there is nothing to justify because the most intelligent people will know that is not what Islam stands for.
The video concludes with Chronic 2 Bass stating: 'Enough is enough of these pseudo-Muslims who dishonour two million Muslims.
'It is up to us to not stay silent, deaf and blind. Hit them hard. The solution will come from us, French Muslims.'
The video emerged and quickly went viral as France continues to mourn the deaths of 132 people killed in a wave of terrorist attacks carried out by extremists.

Anti-Muslim crime soars in Britain after Paris attacks

London (AFP) - Anti-Muslim hate crimes rose 300 percent in Britain in the week following the coordinated attacks in Paris, according to figures published on Monday.

A "vast and overwhelming majority" of the 115 attacks were against Muslim women and girls aged between 14 and 45 who were wearing traditional Islamic dress, according to the findings reported in The Independent newspaper.

The perpetrators were mainly white males aged between 15 and 35, according to the report, which noted that the true numbers of attacks were likely much larger than those reported.

I spoke to one of our WS members who lives in Switzerland and travels routinely between Switzerland, France and Germany. She said there was no problem entering any of those countries, as on her route, there were no border guards. She said that as a result of Schengan? and the formation of the EU, borders were simplified and open. I didn't realize they were THAT open.

She also said her friend's son lost 2 friends at the Bataclan and she and her friends are very sad and wary. She is afraid that this feeling of uncertainty will become the new norm and traveling without caution and fear will be something of the past.

I shared what many of you have posted and told her she is not alone. It is my sincere hope that DAESH? will be defeated and destroyed if every country can come together against them. IMO, JMV
