The Geary County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance as authorities review a cold case from 1989 in which the remains of a man were never identified.

On April 2, 1989, skeletal remains were discovered in Geary County on a sandbar of the Smoky Hill River near Grandview Plaza, just south of Interstate 70, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

I resubmitted Ross Crane as a possible match directly to the Sheriffs office since they're appealing to the public. He's still not listed as a rule out, so maybe it got buried in paperwork?

Nothing news on this?

Looks like a pretty good match. Steven Hedgers is now ruled out in addition to Sinisgalli, but no Mr. Crane. DNA says initial inquiry. Perhaps that's why it's been delayed? I would think the extensive dental work of the UP would have either IDed or ruled out any possible matches quite quickly, however.

Dentals could conceivably be inconclusive if there are differences, but all the differences are things that could have been acquired after the missing person disappeared.
