Police ask help in finding missing Mountlake Terrace woman
Mountlake Terrace - Mountlake Terrace police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing woman.
Cheryl DeBoer, 54, was supposed to meet a friend at the Mountlake Terrace Park and Ride lot and carpool to work Monday morning. She texted her friend around 7 a.m. saying that she would catch a bus instead; she has not been seen or heard from since. Her vehicle was located parked in the 23400 block of 58th Avenue SW in Mountlake Terrace.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner on Tuesday announced that they have identified a body found in Mountlake Terrace as 53-year-old Cheryl DeBoer. The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, the ME's office said. Mountlake Terrace Police had said there is no reason to believe the public is in danger following the discovery of the body.

The family remains cooperative with the investigation, he said, adding DeBoer’s husband took a polygraph test late last week and police have eliminated him as a person of interest.

Thread #1

If there's a case map or timeline in Thread #1, let me know and I'll bring it over.

I hope it's okay that I bring this post I just made over from the old thread.

This is the block where Cheryl's husband located her white Subaru in the afternoon. It wouldn't have been this light at 7am, but definitely not "dark." The area between the crosswalk in the foreground and the crosswalk seen near the top of the picture is the entire block. It's right next to a playground that goes back into the woods.

Mountlake Terrace isn't on here, so I went with Seattle - not the same but comparable enough for our purposes, IMO. Seattle is 20 minutes from Mountlake Terrace.

The above picture was taken in November 2015. Other pictures in the area are from December 2015. You can see an ever so slight shade in some spots if you 'travel' the road a bit. The shade indicates the sun (however little sunlight there was) was shining from a point between east southeast and south.

I went with a November 23rd date. The sun that day rose at 7:26am east southeast, and was at south at 11:56am. Now I'm not a great compass reader, but a rough estimate will do IMO - the middle point between those two points and times would be approximately 9:45am.

It's my belief the Google maps picture was taken around that time, 9:45am. (Idk if and what it matters, but there you go). :)

Cheryl's Carpool Friend was Waiting for Her
"Cheryl DeBoer was last heard from on Monday, Feb. 8 when she texted her work friend that she forgot her work badge and couldn’t meet her at the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center to carpool. Her friend said she would wait for her, but couldn’t reach her.

DeBoer worked as a systems analyst at the Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Prevention at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

Police said there was no activity on her phone since she went missing. The phone was not in her car, which was found Monday near the Transit Center overflow parking, located in the 23400 block of 58th Avenue West."

Police Caution People to be Careful
"Police are not releasing details on any injuries to DeBoer’s body, pending the release of the medical examiner’s ruling and lab results, Pickard said. The body was found clothed, he said.

When asked what the public should know in regards to DeBoer’s disappearance and death, Pickard said: “We ask the public to be conscious of their surroundings,” he said. “Watch where you walk; walk with a purpose … Please be careful.”"

Has anyone seen confirmation that the blood on the seat and the door is her blood? I've looked through the articles but not finding that confirmed.

I've only read that blood was found on the passenger seat, and on the inside passenger door:

"Police in Mountlake Terrace discovered the blood on the passenger seat of Cheryl DeBoer’s Subaru. ... Police also found what was believed to be blood on the inside portion of the passenger side door, according to a Feb. 10 search warrant seeking phone records."

Perhaps the passenger door was opened, a knife was used, Cheryl moved, or was moved, to the passenger seat, and that accounts for the blood?

The detail about the blood on the seat and door apparently comes from the search warrant to check phone records and is probably cited as justifiable reason to believe that a crime was committed. I can't find links to the warrants and I can't find a source that says it's Cheryl's blood.

My mind came up with a very similar scenario.

So from between the 7:02 text to friend and friend's attempt to text and call at 7:30, the perp managed to overtake Cheryl. If not where the car was found, then where else might it have happened?

Because of the way Pickard worded it I'm wondering if she was overtaken while walking and was forced to walk back to her car and get into the passenger seat?

When asked what the public should know in regards to DeBoer’s disappearance and death, Pickard said: “We ask the public to be conscious of their surroundings,” he said. “Watch where you walk; walk with a purpose … Please be careful.”

Could she have been walking towards her commuting location, then realized she hadn't her work ID, texted her friend, then on approach back to her car, was forced into the passenger seat? The perp could have then drove off with her, killed her, disposed of her, and then drove her car back, long before the husband got a call.

Or, could she have texted her friend, then made it home, found someone breaking into her house, and was then assaulted? Oh, but wasn't the phone disabled at near
the park & ride.

Hmm... Is there a murderer targeting women in their 50s, near water, in the general area? This could be far-fetched.

Hmmm....

I get the impression that she did not return to her home, but instead ran into trouble where she originally parked her car - likely at the transit centre. Her badge was found at her home.
