Why does a town of 600 people need a four person police department anyway? Thats like one cop for every 150 people. :facepalm: Anyway the Sheriffs Department is providing law enforcement services to the community. So its not like they are without protection.
We have some entire counties here in Oregon, that have less LEOs then that town. Some only operate during business hours 9-5. Outside of those hours people rely on the state police, and it works just fine.
Well, 3 of the 4 officers were volunteer reserve officers. I don't have any issues with the size of their former police department. But I think the entire town probably needs to be shut down.

When a new group of elected leaders took office in Green Mountain Falls in mid-April, they vowed to make changes in the running of the town government.
Well, a month and a half later, they got their wish with nearly all local workers quitting, including the complete public works department, two trustees and two planning commissioners and now practically the entire clerks office. According to sources, some of these resignations are attributed to a drastic changing of the leadership guard and concerns over new policies.

The town of Green Mountain Falls just cant stay out of trouble, whether its from ticketing people for waterfowl feeding, spending too much money on meals or employee angst or removals.
Last week, Mary Duval, the citys head clerk and treasurer for the last year and a half, was suspended and then escorted out of the town hall building.

An effort to
recall the Green Mountain Falls Board of Trustees in
Colorado was launched in July 2013. Supporters of the recall circulated petitions to qualify the recall question for the ballot.[SUP]

did not go to a vote because the petitions were rejected on account of a spelling error.

Pent-up anger that erupted in rage, trustees in Green Mountain Falls let loose April 2 on Mayor Lorrie Worthey. At issue is the missing paperwork for what turned out to be a $14,046 loan from El Paso County to cover emergency expenses during the Waldo Canyon Fire. Anything with regard to money you need to write down, said the town attorney Lisa Tormoen Hickey.
Trustee Howard Price started the tirade over the lack of communication from the mayor, about the loan. We were told it was a gift; now we find out it's not a gift and we have to pay it back, he said. I can get no history on this.

In a breach of protocol, Green Mountain Falls Mayor Lorrie Worthey posted a letter from former Marshal/Police Chief Tim Bradley on her Facebook page this month. The breach in the personnel policy and grievance process was in using social media before alerting the board of trustees to the letter.
Potentially libelous, the letter made several unsubstantiated accusations against town employees, including Rob McArthur, public works director and Chris Frandina, town clerk/treasurer. As well, Bradley made unsubstantiated claims about a conversation he had with the town attorney Dan Stuart.
