Just another thought....does the van have a hitch? Just wondering if he could have towed another vehicle there in order to switch to a car not on anyone's radar?

It seems crazy that he could get through the state of TN unseen but then again I guess most of the focus has been on the Appalachian region and not W. TN.

He could have easily gone into hiding nearby during the time frame of several hours before anyone knew she was missing that day. Has anyone heard what time he took her out of school "early", and how long between then and when the school bus showed up at her house without her on it?

Her aunt (his wife) said he was often gone for 10 hours a day (even though he didn't have a job?), so he could have been driving up to 4 hours away each day and setting up camp somewhere he planned to bring her to "live with him". And he could have easily set up a place to hide the van (in an abandoned barn, or even under a simple black tarp in a wooded area). So maybe that's why no one has spotted the van traveling across TN or into other states -- if he went into hiding right away somewhat nearby and is hunkered down for a good, long time.

I hope the purchases at the Save-a-Lot were just extras on top of a bunch of food supplies that will last months and months he had already picked up and squirelled away ahead of time. That would keep him from having to go out in public to get supplies at a store for awhile, and would imply he was in it for the long haul and not just for a few days to a week... and will give LE more time to find her before he kills her (if that's his plan, to keep her with him until he is out of resources for hiding or caught by LE).

Why is this news being kept so hush hush?

They probably don't know for sure he isn't listening to radios etc. and may want to keep the element of surprise.

Not alerting the man they are hunting, to keep press and curious out of area to avoid trampling area and possible evidence until they have manpower to secure it all?

I would think before they possess a van and take it in for "processing" they'd compare the VIN.

Either this is the van, or it isn't. I'm still puzzled by why this story is virtually silent.

This is really horrible, those poor children. I did think it was interesting that his wife said "we will get you help and you can't keep her" in her interviews.

Haven't seen this posted yet but mother speaks out more about her "gut feeling" and a "bad feeling" about GS. Father also states he is "obsessed" with her and they believe he has a "lair" and in hiding. (My exact thoughts regarding a secret hideaway which would make sense since he disappeared often.)
