We will be doing a FB LIVE very soon with Opelika investigators. PLEASE SHARE and help police get justice for this little girl.

Opelika Police continue to pursue leads in the “Jane Doe” case first reported in January of 2012. Recently we released new composite photographs of Jane Doe that we compiled in cooperation with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Lee County Coroner’s Office. The composites were released in hopes of someone possibly recognizing her and assisting us in being able to identify her. Through that process we received several tips, one of which was very promising and lead to us obtaining the attached photographs. We believe the young girl in these photographs is Jane Doe, however, we are not positive she is. The photographs were taken during a Vacation Bible School at Greater Peace Church in 2011. All attempts to identify her through church and school records have failed. We are asking for the public’s help in identifying who this young girl is. She would have been about 4-5 years old in these pictures (in 2011). The young girl also had a visible deformity of some type with her left eye. She may have been blind in that eye. The deformity may have been natural or caused by an accident or abuse. It is believed she had a slightly unkempt appearance and was not very clean. She was quiet and stayed to herself, not interacting with other children very much. She had trouble communicating on the same level as the other children.

Anyone who recognizes this young girl is asked to contact the Opelika Police Department Investigative Services Division at (334)705-5220, the Secret Witness Hotline at (334)745-8665, or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Call Center at 1-800-THE-LOST(843-5678).

"I think this child was not exposed to the general public, and that's possibly why she was able to go unnoticed," said Sergeant Richard Converse, who has been on the case since its onset.

It has been nearly three years and authorities are still trying to identify the skeletal remains of little "Jane Doe" in Opelika...

Dental records indicate the child was African-American and between 4 and 7-years-old when she died; however, the size of her skull could indicate she was even younger. This inconsistency may be due to the fact that the child suffered from a disability, or that she was malnourished due to severe neglect. The child also suffered extensive bone injuries and damage in one eye. "The type of injuries explained to us would have been very debilitating," Converse said. "It's really horrible."

The Jane Doe had eye damage!

So hopeful this little girl will be identified soon! Someone in the comments on the fb live had a good idea to show her picture around to other churches in the area that did Vacation Bible School. In the summer a lot of parents use VBS as a free daycare service. A lot of churches will even send the church bus/van to pick the kids up everyday so the parents don't even have to go to the church. This little girl may have attended programs at more than one church that summer. Someone has to remember her.

What a beautiful, sweet little girl. It makes my blood boil to think of anyone hurting her. I hope they can find out who she was very soon, and I believe that this will lead investigators directly to the person(s) responsible for her abuse and death. Let justice be done.

That glowing white eye in the pictures makes me think she had a tumor. Here's a website that tell the possible causes of that glow: http://www.chla.org/know-the-glow

My cousins were playing w/ keys in preschool and my one cousin was blinded by the key hitting her eyeball. Her eye glowed exactly like that child's eye, too, after it healed.

When I see the phrase "appear to be human" I always get the sinking feeling that the head is probably missing.

At the bottom there is a list of local child care centers in the same zip code.

Oh wait... maybe this is this little girl's body... :(

This appears to be very close to the trailer park where her head was found. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/117...888c932e92549e07:0x75d23ca3e0b47b29!3e0?hl=en

When I first read the above story on remains being found I read it from a different source that said LE didn't think it was related to the little girl's remains. I posted the story to the only other missing person I could find from Opelika: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...ika-Lee-County-18-July-2007&highlight=Opelika

Norris Billingsley went missing less than a mile from where the remains were found.

Now, however, the link has been updated with more details and the line about the remains not being related to the little girl has been removed. So it could be either one.

No, I like to give them the time to do their work. I'm certain that they are aware of the two men who went missing from the park, and we know they are active in looking for this little girl. I'd it's one of those three people, I'm sure we'll hear about it soon.

I hope that they are looking at all the people local to that area, and at the churches that are right there.

I was thinking the same thing. A detached retina can cause it, among many other things. The articles I've seen say "visible deformity" but you can't tell from the photos other than the flash, I've found nothing that says definitively if this deformity is visible without a camera, or would be obvious to someone without training. I've been looking lately at writing a blog post about this case and that was one thing that really stood out to me.

Video

Looks like the same shirt in the picture and she was found in. Beautiful child.

Those pictures are so fuzzy. I hope they are able to clear them up. Hopefully someone remembers who dropped off the child but it has been so long.

At the end of the video, it said the pastor was going to share the child's story with the congregation on Sunday. That would have been this past Sunday. Hopefully some more information, leads and pictures have come from the congregation.

How about these?

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/20491/18 - Natasha Corley, 1, Arizona, August 28th 2006. Would have been 6.

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/21277/21 - Lluvia McCraw, 3, Texas, December 24th 2008. Would have been 6.

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/5843/9 - Kyanade Bennett, 4, South Carolina, September 29th 2002. Would have been 13. (Only the skull was found and the photograph is uncanny)

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6292/10 - Ta'Niyah Leonard, 11m, Florida, October 29th 2002. Would have been 10.

We can rule out Lluvia McCraw on this case. I did locate a photo of her and her mother posted in 2013, but not found anything more recent than that. The ones I haven't ruled out beyond your list are:

Jamilah Haley, 1, missing from Detroit Sept 28, 2006

Selah Davis, 3 months, missing from Bronx Feb 15, 2008

Nyjilyah Ticey, missing from Detroit Sept 8, 2009 (though I have found a YouTube and Google+ attached to that name that look like they would correspond to a kid that age)

Tageana Griffith, 5, missing from Niagara Falls, NY, June 12, 2010

As an FYI I called and spoke with the detective this afternoon and gave him the information and links I had, and a link to this thread as well. I'm still in a primitive stage of writing on this, but I'm really hoping somewhere in all this information he'll find answers, and she'll have justice and peace.
