GUILTY Australia - Stephanie Scott, 26, Leeton, NSW, 5 April 2015 - #3

According to the agreed statement of facts[tendered before the Court] Vincent Stanford was seen at the school:
a) at times he wasn’t supposed to be there and b) in areas he didn’t need to be.
“He was seen in around the girls’ toilets during lunch breaks, including when the girls were in the toilets.
There was an occasion when he was entering the girls’ toilet at a time he had no reason to be at the school,” the facts read...

This behaviour should have raised a 'red flag' among those charged with responsibility for protecting their students. My opinion only.

this is a man with a huge , huge sense of entitlement.. it seems like he went about Leeton in silent over-entitlement from moment he got that job. I often thought he went to all these schools he apparently had entry to, at any time mainly to use the satellite internet, which those schools would have out there, I presume, especially Leeton High School, where Stephanie was murdered.

Connection in Leeton would have been expensive, otherwise.. probably dial up, and probably paid by the hour, but Eureka Lemon could inform more on that.. . I saw him using his skills to break into the password, or even managing to extract a password to the system and then using it after hours, at will and at whim. ..

Washing her clothes. Handling her underwear and choosing which piece to keep. It just sickens me, and it is indicative of his complete detachment from any boundaries whatsoever. Nothing had boundaries for him. No one else's boundaries had any meaning, and they must have been a formidable due, when the identical twins were together, because neither of them appear to have this concept, so life with the two of them must have been unbearable. ..

How in hell did they fly under the radar to adulthood?... .. or did they?

Merrilyn Scott's tribute to her murdered daughter Stephanie
11 Oct 2016, 6 p.m.

Merryn Scott's brave tribute to her murdered daughter: so beautifully articulated. :rose:

Among her words are these revealing lines:
"There were many behaviours that should have raised red flags" ...
"He should not have been at school that fateful weekend"...
"He had made it his business to establish what selected staff members were doing over Easter" ...
"and his plan had swung into action by the end of term" ...

my god he was waiting for her to turn up..

'He had made it his business to establish what selected staff members were doing over Easter" ...

my god he was waiting for her to turn up..

'He had made it his business to establish what selected staff members were doing over Easter" ...

Agree Trooper. Chilling words revealing 'action' on his part to gather information about staff members he had selected. A potential serial killer IMHO.

Thank you to police for securing the arrest of this dangerous murderer and potential serial killer.

IMO he made significant attempts to conceal his crime, clean up the crime scene, hide the body, hide the car in the back of his Leeton garage (so nobody would see). He had the body in his lair in Leeton until the early hours of the morning. He travelled to Cocoparra National Park in the dead of night to destroy the body, thereby concealing what had been done to the body. He lied to police about his activities, about the rings and most likely other things. He knew how to conceal information: washing her clothing removing blood and traces of his DNA, then disposing of her belongings in different bins around Leeton; disposing of her car, petrol can and computer in different places. Only for the police intercepts of the phone calls between he and his twin brother did the facts about the rings become evident. We can be thankful that his murderous, sexual predator has been caught. IMHO.

Scratches seen on his face:
One witness told police that he remembered seeing Stanford with scratches on his face ...
and recalled him giggling and smiling when the subject of Ms Scott's whereabouts was raised.

In the interview released on msm, the interviewing detective stated that he could still see the scratches on Vincent's face.
Vincent admitted that they were caused by Stephanie's finger nails as he beat her to death...

IMHO this man has demonstrated himself to be a violent, sexually deviant murderer - a dangerous human being.
Evidence indicates that he was planning/looking for an opportunity to enact his murderous, deviant sexual desires on a selected victim e.g. being on school grounds when he should not have been there, accessing the school alarm system, accessing violent 'bride' rape, murder and necrophilia videos on the internet; collecting items to build a 'rape kit'; establishing the Easter plans of selected staff; loitering around the girls' toilet block, etc.
It was just a matter of time.

His affect seems unusual: the smirking/smiling facial expression could be misinterpreted as friendly by unsuspecting others. However, it masks a dark, deviant internal world. This can be seen when detectives interviewed him and he described his desire 'to kill' with details of how he bashed, raped and murdered his victim all the while smirking/smiling. He's not mirroring at all. He's smiling as he links into his own depraved internal world.

We look to Psychiatry to find explanations for this deviance, this human pathology - so devastating to other well-functioning people, law abiding citizens going about their normal daily living, working, building a life, a family, a future. Psychiatry is still evolving and struggles. It can cover the broad spectrum as it deals with the specific details of this murderous crime i.e. working backwards, what traits have been in evidence in the conduct of this particular crime, etc. However, it will take a more detailed examination of the life of this man, his environment, his significant others, his influences, his unique response to those influences, early evidence of a pathological response(s), how it was/wasn't it handled, what adjustment/maladjustment occurred, etc.

Looking at this man, he has a rather large head, with low-set ears, a low brow line and a protruding jaw. Allegedly, people in the Netherlands described him as 'King Kong' due to his unusual strength and unusually hairy body. In addition to the observed and self-described emotional deviance, possible biological/neurological factors would need to be examined and taken into account in any diagnosis IMO. So this biological/environmental element needs further work.

Is such a man capable of 'morality' as his lawyer put before the court? Was moral and virtuous conduct witnessed in his crime? Was he showing a moral side when he confessed to Stephanie's murder? Or was he caught by Police with indisputable evidence of his guilt. Was he excited by the re-telling of the details of his crime to detectives? Did he show remorse of any kind during his interviews? We know he had enough intelligence to go to some lengths to scatter the evidence, to mislead detectives about the rings involving his twin brother and to go to some lengths to conceal his own crime, but where was the alleged moral element? Where was the remorse?

The concept of morality as suggested by the Defense? Clutching at straws IMO. Morality is a higher order characteristic inconsistent with a dark drive 'to kill', the enjoyment of murder, violent rape, necrophilia and vile destruction of a human body using fire to obliterate evidence of bodily injuries. We can speculate that a significant part of their internal world is dead, damaged, so other people are mere objects to them. They don't value higher order concepts such as self or morals. They are driven by more primitive drives from their damaged, internal world. This man has allegedly had pathological thoughts since middle childhood (aged 7 years) as reported in msm. His pathology is entrenched given all those years of deviance, and now he has acted out that internal pathology as an adult aged 25 years. He has demonstrated that he is a danger to society.

How much mad? How much bad? Big questions for psychiatry and the Court to struggle with. Where to incarcerate a man who has admitted he has a desire 'to kill others'?
He will still have this desire which may not be gender specific. It may become stronger now that he has 'killed' i.e. such a violent bashing, rape, murder and vile burning of the corpse. He collected trophies i.e. photographs and the bra, a feature in common in other serial killers. His is a criminal deviance makes him a danger to others.

Some thoughts for today. My opinion only.

sleuth.. that is too much to take in. He is having a nice afternoon tea with the chaps down the station. .

how utterly draining and debilitating it must be for detectives, police, etc to take down these interviews, and maintain a detached questioning, never deviated from facial expression of mild interest... what must that do to a mind over years of doing that kind of thing?.....

Leeton is an ADSL2+ enabled exchange, and that's unlikely to be a recent development - no one is investing in ADSL upgrades with the NBN coming.

Colin Joss and Co cleaning division spokeswoman Fleur Thompson told Fairfax Media if an issue was raised with the company, it would have been investigated.

"Clearly, if we had heard those sort of stories, we would have done something – we had nothing," Ms Thompson said.

The company through their contract with the NSW Education Department, continues to clean Leeton High School and more than 1000 schools across NSW.

So where does the blame lie? The Principal for not reporting the "red flags" and the person who gave him the security access to the school?

I suspect the problem lies with the police check, ... they arrive in Australia recently, but they are actually Australian citizens, so a check by the police would say , nothing known, because the police don't know they have lived in Holland for 25 years or something.. . and of course, the next lapse, is, the contractors, Joss, don't tell the police that they are new arrivals from Holland, ( which is where the check should be directed) ..

just laziness all round, no one moves a muscle, tick a box...

oh hell yes, the person who gave him the security numbers, but maybe him and Marcus worked on this for fun, being self taught geeks... I cant imagine why anyone would give him those codes, it doesn't make a lot of sense..

That stuff is easy to get with basic social engineering tactics, people are very lax with that kind of info and in the vast majority of instances nothing comes of it, which means people never realise how important it is not to share that info.

Our thoughts are with Stephanie's family and fiance, Aaron, today. We're with you throughout this difficult day. We share your hope and the hope of the Leeton and Canowindra communities that Justice will be delivered. We hope that the sentence reflects the gravity of this depraved crime, and the deep, enduring suffering of loss and deep sadness it had caused those who loved her. :rose:

I don't see how it could be possible for any judge to project a time when he should be set among the vulnerable general population. .. He is at ease , waiting for the 'call'... . that signal, apparently, where he just feels he 'ought to kill'.. he seems bemused by this, too. Quite at ease with himself and his 'little quirks.'.. And he doesn't know when, or why, or who, or how he ought to kill.. It isn't as if he will receive treatment in prison, of any value, only the most rudimentary sort, and possibly only to sedate him , sort of..

It's not as if there is a cure for what he is.. its not a matter of what he 'has'.. it is what he is. .. there is no fix for it. .not now, ... not in the foreseeable future , either.

life without parole. ..

how dreadful,.. really really appalling if her parents have to continually rock up to parole boards and state their case once again... Virginia Morse's husband has had to do this now for over 40 years!.. face her killers, outline the reasons for no parole to be granted.. what a bloody horror that must be, over and over again.

unbelievably, and probably predictably, the link between Griffith and HQ ABC has broken down. you would think Griffith is on the far side of the moon, but no.. it is the state of telecommunications in Australia.

It is the same judge who adjudicated in the sentencing of Markus, he has had a hasty shave this morning, at least.

the Judge was going thru his preamble... the various precedents, the cases similar, to a certain extent, the parameters and extensions of the factors and elements required for this sentence, or that sentence, .. the link appears to be still broken.
