Kaleenah Muldrow’s body was found hidden under a bed in the third-floor apartment shortly after the fire had torn through the top of the Monroe St. building in Bushwick and was put out at 7:30 a.m., police sources said.

It’s believed the tot hid under the bed in a panic when the fire started an hour earlier, the sources said.

Investigators question mother after toddler’s body isn’t discovered for hours after Brooklyn apartment fire

The fire broke out at 6:50 a.m. but Kaleenah Muldrow's lifeless body was not found by investigators until 9:43 a.m. Tuesday morning inside the apartment at 755 Monroe Street.

There were initially no reported injuries but at about 9:30 a.m., a 20-year-old woman who lives at the building said she could not find her child and that the child was inside the apartment during the fire, according to NYPD. That woman was later identified as Leila Aquino, the mother of young Muldrow.

The mother told investigators she had left her young daughter with a babysitter, a law enforcement official said. But the babysitter told them she hadn’t watched Kaleenah in a while after getting into a fight with her mom over unpaid wages, the official said.

The mother told cops she was out having drinks with a man when the blaze caught, the official said.

Firefighters got the flames under control just before 7:30 a.m. Just over two hours later, the mother returned home and said Kaleenah was inside, police said.

I am besides myself!

This selfish murderer has prior arrests, she was being investigated by CPS, the grandfather lives in the same house, she has thousands of FB friends, made lots of $$ stripping...YET...she couldn't find ONE person to watch her2 year old. Not a friend. Not a sitter. No Grandfather.

Another beautiful, innocent child failed by our society.

Joe Muldrow is the baby's great-grandfather and owns the building at 755 Monroe St. He was home at the time of the fire and reported hearing a loud bang in the apartment above him, where his great- granddaughter lived.

Sadly, Muldrow said he didn't know his great-granddaughter was home alone when the fire broke out.

STRIPPER MOM ACCUSED OF LEAVING TODDLER TO DIE IN FIRE WAS BEING PROBED FOR NEGLECT

The stripper mom who authorities say left her 2-year-old daughter alone to die in a Brooklyn house fire was already being probed by city officials for child neglect, sources told The Post.

The Administration for Children’s Services has been keeping tabs on Leila Aquino since Feb. 15, when it began investigating her for leaving little Kalenah Muldrow home alone while she went to work at CityScapes Gentlemen’s Club in Queens, the sources said.

Aquino, 20, arrived home Tuesday morning to find her Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment in flames. She was carrying a box that contained $980 — all in $1 bills.

Cops initially thought the cash was her night’s tips from exotic dancing — but sources said Wednesday that she was actually out partying, not working.

[...]

Aquino first told cops she was dancing Tuesday night, when a portable heater sparked the fire killed her little girl, who had crawled under a bed.

She then admitted she had skipped her shift to party with friends instead.

Aquino was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child on Wednesday night at Brooklyn Criminal Court, where it was revealed that ACS was still actively investigating her at the time of the fire.

Aquino has four prior arrests, including two busts since 2011 for robbery and attempted criminal possession of stolen property.

A Brooklyn stripper chose the club over her 2-year-old daughter — with deadly consequences — but it wasn’t the first time she’d left her kid alone.

Aquino “chose that life, that fast money,” said the dead child’s paternal grandmother, Shellon Archibald

[...]

“My son let her live rent-free,” said the devastated 49-year-old grandmother. “She had a diploma. She could’ve gotten a regular 9-to-5 job.”

The city launched a probe of Aquino just one week before the fatal blaze, sources said.

Last March, the city received a call from a neighbor saying the child had bruises and marks on her body, NBC reported.

[...]

Aquino was initially slated to work Monday night, but her plans changed and she instead went out with friends, according to police.

Aquino tried to blame the Tuesday tragedy on a bogus “baby-sitter” before finally confessing that she had left her daughter sitting alone in front of the television, according to sources.

Probation for child neglect and endangerment? And mental illness is cited. So, MI caused her to abandon her child while she went out partying? And, she returned home with $980 but had not been able to pay the babysitter $200 in wages? Did they investigate how she obtained the $980 and how often she received this type of pay while "partying"? IMO, she got off light; she deserved a stiffer punishment. IMO, probation and a program that promotes "positive parenting skills" will not change her lifestyle. Aquino is another Casey Anthony.
