OH - Ohio State University Rampage, 28 November 2016

Students were outside of Watts Hall after a fire alarm prompted them to exit the building onto West 19th Avenue. Ameera Khan, a third-year in material science and engineering, said students were returning to class when a gray Honda Civic sedan “screeched” around the corner from College Road. The car plowed into students on the sidewalk before the driver emerged and attacked students with a butcher knife.

I am getting annoyed that he is being reported as 18 years old and 20 years old. Which is it? Ugh. The media drives me crazy. So quick to report things without verification.

Artan was on the Dean's LIst at Columbus State Community College in August, 2016.

Yep. And if you look at the May 2016 commencement program is says he graduated *advertiser censored* Laude with an Associate of Arts degree from CSCC. (If it's the same guy.)

Twenty years old makes more sense if he was a junior (assuming it is the same person we identified).

A car used in the attack was registered to a family member.

still under investigation whether the alarm and the stabbing incident are connected.

The last time a shooting was reported on the OSU campus was 2015, when a 63-year-old former college security officer shot and killed himself at a college-run art gallery.

Updated NBC article indicates suspect was a student at OSU.

An Ohio State University student plowed a car into a campus crowd, then jumped out and started stabbing people with a butcher knife before being shot dead by police Monday morning, officials said...

Law enforcement officials told NBC News the suspect's name is Abdul Artan, an 18-year-old student at the university. He was a Somali refugee who left his homeland with his family in 2007, lived in Pakistan and then came to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident of the United States, officials said...

Luckily he did not have a weapon that could fire massive amounts of bullets in seconds

The alert, however, apparently was sent after the suspect was fatally shot.

Facebook activated its safety check, entitled “The Violent Incident in Columbus, Ohio,”

He says he heard the car's engine revving before it hit the curb because it was going pretty fast.

Ohio State Police Chief Craig Stone says an officer who was nearby because of an earlier gas leak shot and killed the attacker.

It wouldn't surprise me if the suspect didn't pull the alarm to get people out on the sidewalk.

Yes, I sure the people with life altering injuries feel very lucky.

It's unclear if that was related to the attack or if that's why people were outside at the time of the attack.

Guys, it's only the media putting bad thoughts in your head about Abdul Artan. He even says so.

Before it's over, they will say it's all Trump's fault.

What is logistics management anyone?

Why are not hearing anything about them investigating his place of residence?

If the now-deceased suspect was in his third year of studies, how could he be only 18? Wish media would get the age right :gaah: Sounds like he transferred to OSU this semester.

I think the previous poster meant that it's lucky he didn't take multiple lives with this attack.

And I'm sure they are feeling lucky to be alive.

It says he's in his third year of college? At age 18?

Logistics management is basically the moving of goods, think trucking, warehousing, shipping containers etc.

My guess would be that he is 20. And that he got an associates degree from CSCC in May (I believe those degrees typically take about 2 years.) Then he probably started at OSU this Fall to pursue a Bachelor's degree or something. (Just speculation.)
