Do you think that TC expected his wife to divorce him after he absconded with Elizabeth? I do. I wonder if he is doing his best to stay ahead of everyone until Elizabeth has her 16th birthday in May, and then marry? I also read that in some cases, pregnancy can also change the age requirement!

I was under the impression that marriage can be denied or at the very least the pastor(or whoever) can refuse to service the wedding? I was also under the impression even if she is pregnant, you still need Parental Consent. I don't know, I hope this ends well, I hope this teacher gets life.

As far as ETs phone pinging, I think she was calling home, and he cut it off.

Maybe she was led to believe they could be Common Law married?
IMOO.

I see they both started following one person in IG since I screenshotted it on March 27th. I wish I would have taken a screenshot of who they were following at that point to see who they added. Also his post count went up by 9, but I don't see anything new. Odd....

I partially agree. I don't think he thought this out as well as he could have and I now believe that he didn't have particular destinations in mind. Or if he did, he kept them to himself. What he did plan well is getting out of Tennessee early on and not staying in one place long enough to get caught.

He has to have known the only way "out" is south. Regardless of age of consent and marital age laws of states within the U.S., federal laws regarding transporting minors across state lines, etc. provide that the offender would be extradited to the state where the offense occurred or be jailed to try and fight it. I just don't believe he wouldn't know this.

I thought one had to be 18 to marry unless their parents signed for them.

It depends on the state, or country. In Venezuela the age for a female to consent for marriage is 14.

I am wondering, although "south" is logical, that maybe he feels he has nothing to lose, and the way out might not be south, but being shot dead, in the end.

I posted this a few threads back.* Knowing what we know now, which is very little, I have added/changed some.

1.* I don't think they are at Disney or any other "dream" location or any beach.* None of this is about her.* Its about him and what he wants.* Although he could have told her they were going to the beach or Disney just to get her in the car.* She had/has no input into where they are going.*
2.* He knew he was about to be in a world of trouble with his family, his job and his freedom.* He left and has no intention of coming back. I think this way because of the guns. One gun, sure, but two?? Why does he need two guns?!
3.* I don't think he has had more than a month of planning.* I believe he thought everything was fine until 2-4 weeks before leaving. I wouldn't be surprised to learn there was nothing sexually happening between him and ET before they left. I suspect that is why he took her. The new will wear off and that's the point it becomes dangerous for her.
4.* I believe he liquidated as much of his possessions as possible in the 2-4 weeks before leaving, including any retirement monies he had.* As well as any his wife had that he could get his hands on. I doubt it was very much more than the $4500.
5.* He is definitely keeping up with the news.* He has a prepaid smartphone.* (Only one, he would not allow ET to have one)
6.* They are either close, within 4 hours. And well stocked. (We know now they aren't stocked).
Or they have help.* If he researched he could have very well found a likeminded cult/group to take them in. This is still a possibility since they obviously weren't stocked and only needed enough to get them where they are going.
As someone said, "I feel it in my gut" that they aren't far from home.* I believe the OKC siting was for the store trip only.* I believe they doubled back.* I believe they went to Decatur to pick up something or meet someone.* There was a purpose for going to Decatur.* I seriously doubt that ping was planned, as a way of throwing LE off.
7.* With the research he did about the vehicle, I tend to think he still has it.* I am curious to know if he did the same research on his jeep.
8.* They are not on their way out of the country.* If they try, they will be caught and he believes that.* (Unless he was able to find documents they would need by way of fake or using someone else's)

Green ribbons passed out at Mule Day festivities in honor of Elizabeth Thomas

"Thousands of green ribbons were passed out in Columbia during Mule Day festivities in honor of a Maury county teen who’s been missing for almost three weeks.

It’s the mules that draw tens of thousands of people to the small town this weekend, but this year the amber alert for Elizabeth Thomas was on the minds of many at the annual celebration."

"There will be a vigil for Elizabeth Sunday night at 7 p.m. in the Columbia public square."

I'm still holding out for west (I was picturing remote Utah) or Mexico.

But I acknowledge they could turn up anywhere. Any chance they picked up a used camper in Decatur (where phone pinged) before heading out?

Utah is beautiful. And definitely remote. Someday soon, I hope to make it back to Bryce Canyon.

I like your idea that they may have gone to Decatur to pick up a used camper.

I googled Decatur to see what else might have drawn them there.

I can't imagine them casually out sightseeing with the law on their tails, but you just never know.

I can't imagine them in Mexico, but OTOH, I don't want to completely rule it out. *I* certainly would not go to Mexico with a wallet full of cash and a beautiful 15-year-old girl.

With your examples.. Would not all but one possibly have the same outcome even if he did release her?

He may have hit the Tipping Point

No! LE has been very clear that they will be lenient if he releases her.

16hrs from OKC to Mexico. I did 12hrs from VA to FL with 2 meal and a few potty breaks with no driving relief, hubby and I split the kids and took 2 cars because gas was cheaper than if we'd taken one of the suvs. It was hellish as was the trip back but we did it. Once you commit, what other option do you have? (I know my situation was vastly different) The footage of them at the Walmart was 48hrs out, they could have been in Mexico late 3/16 or on 3/17. I didn't have the adrenaline of being a fugitive either.

IMHO, his best way "out" is to release Elizabeth and continue on his own. He could go to Florida or North Carolina and work as a gardener or handyman for retired people for cash.

I'm supposing either. Most likely the later. Just trying to figure out why the Decatur location. It doesn't make sense. They leave at 8:30am, and almost 8 hours later ET's phone pings in Decatur. It's only 1 1/2 hour trip to Decatur, why is the phone in Decatur at 3:06pm. And why go to Decatur at all? Why not just head to OK? Was it to throw LE off, make them look south rather than west? Or was there something they had to do to "complete the mission" in Decatur before they could head west. If we believe LE and they're headed to Mexico, a passport would certainly make the whole teen marriage thing go smoother. It would also allow them to easily pass back and forth across the border. Not tied to it, but there has to be a reason behind Decatur. I'm even wondering if they headed four or five hours south, ran into problems, headed back to Decatur and then headed west. Not sure, but Decatur doesn't make sense to me if you're headed west. It doesn't fit properly into the whole scheme and seems a waste of resources, gas and money so I keep turning it over.
The long time in getting to Decatur--maybe alone time before they took off. I know ewwww.

IMOO.

I am waiting for him to do a Scott Peterson and go blond.

I was thinking that facial hair grows fast and that dye job on his goatee is going to be looking really weird about now unless he touches it up - or shaves it off.

Seriously, they have probably changed their appearances again. If he put on a cap and shaved his facial hair, he would probably not be recognized.

I think that sometimes, when I offer insight here as an experienced wilderness camper/hiker, other posters might blow me off simply because it's something they themselves don't really have a broad understanding about. I don't have a fragile ego at all, so that doesn't bother me, but I do wish posters would listen to my experience in this area because it could be helpful to Elizabeth.

Having said all that, here are few observations I've made in the past , and a few more that I would add after reading the latest updates.

1. TC reads survivalist and off grid wilderness sites. To the best of my knowledge, he has very little actual experience in this. THAT is what is forcing him into public places, assuming they are actually trying to rough it in the wilderness. It's clear that he's " planned " this by researching things on the internet. But he hasn't planned it well, because clearly, he lacks practical experience. If he truly had experience, he wouldn't be in town shopping for food. Experienced campers/hikers pack freeze dried meals...they weight next to nothing, take up very little space, and require no refrigeration. I could feed us in a dispersed camping situation for months this way taking up the space of a small cardboard box.

2. I doubt very much that they are staying in super remote wilderness settings. To get to most of these within National Parks, you must hike in. I get a very strong sense that he is not comfortable being without the vehicle. That said, there are many service roads that are rarely trafficked, and it would not be difficult to pull a vehicle off of one of these roads into a wooded area, camouflage the car with camo netting, and not be seen. They could easily be camping on private property if they do have the camo netting (which I'd almost bet my famr they do).

3. I actually saw a Nissan Rogue the other day, and tried to evaluate it as a practical vehicle for camping long term. To me, it's size is would be a big problem. Even with the back seat put down, it would be a tight fit for 2 people to sleep in. Add to that all of the supplies you would need to haul with you, and I don't think I could do it. I certainly wouldn't attempt it without bringing along a fly (which is a tarp sort of thing that extends your " living space " from the back of the vehicle). If he doesn't have this kind of setup, and is trying to just flat out live out of the Rogue, yeah...no.

4. Water. That is an essential. If they are wilderness camping long term they would need to camp near a water source. This sounds obvious and simple, doesn't it? It actually isn't. Drinking from wilderness water sources can kill you if you don't know what you are doing. Ideally, water needs to be brought to a boil safe. This requires a fire. If he isn't hauling wood (along with all these other supplies in the cramped back of the Nissan), then he has to use wood that's available to him. Does he know what to burn and what not to burn (because even that requires a degree of knowledge). And, is he concerned that a fire might give them away? I read somewhere that he researched a water filter. I hope like hell he is not under the impression that these filters are a foolproof way to safely treat water, because believe me, they aren't. Even when they are used correctly and operating properly, there are many different types of organisms they don't keep out. Chemicals to treat water? They exist, of course, but they are certainly not ideal. What do you want to bet that one of the " ordinary food items " he purchased at the OKC walmart was a case of bottled water?

5. I mentioned yesterday that when I saw the OKC walmart pics that both TC and ET had every appearance of having been "camping". When I said camping, I didn't necessarily mean camping in the traditional sense, but rather "roughing it". I have absolutely know way of knowing what their "set up" is, but I know the look of roughing it when I see it. It's something that is difficult to explain to people who don't camp/hike, but every hiker knows it when they see it. It's just a mindset that shows up in your appearance and your obliviousness to your appearance. The instant I saw these 2, I was pretty damned sure they had not been staying at a motel. I see no reason to think that that has changed since the walmart video. I think that, given their lack of experience, they may be forced to risk a motel for a night here or there, but everything I've read and seen so far tells me they are trying to go off grid.

6. You do not carry a gun in the middle of your back. Reach back there and pretend you are trying to draw a gun. Can YOU do it? Even if that were possible, it's called conceal carry for a reason. Do you think people might be able to see a gun if it were stashed in the middle of your back just under your shoulder blades?

7. TC researched whether a mattress would fit in the back of the Nissan. From what I saw yesterday looking at a Nissan, I would guess no. But even if he does, it won't be a regular mattress. He would need an air mattress. He's already got way too much crap in that tiny storage space.

(I was going to type more, but I hate reading long posts myself, and now I'm tired of typing, so I'm cutting myself off.)

I'm totally listening and grateful for the info. I agree they looked like they were camping. Sounds like they won't last long trying to rough it. They will have to surface for supplies regularly.

ETA: Which, if they truly have not been spotted since that Walmart video, concerns me.

Certainly the best scenario, but unlikely. I feel like he's all in. He really can't go back to his family and he's promised this girl the world and is going to do everything his deluded mind can think to give her everything he said he would. Then trying to make up for what he's lacking in the planned scenario.

My husband and I (and our dog) have done some camping out here in the Southwest, and there are a lot of remote areas where they could stay pretty much undetected for a while. Even some of the "touristy" areas like Monument Valley on the Utah/Arizona border have virtually no cell phone reception. It wouldn't be ideal if they wanted to be able to monitor how LE is progressing in the case against them, but it would let them stay off the grid. We've been to some remote areas where we didn't see a single other person the entire time.

There are tents you can buy that attach to smaller SUVs or crossovers like the Rogue.

lol I thought you meant drive the car into the tent. Not a camper here.
