ETA- Bullock County Sheriff Raymond Rogers said Theris has been living in the woods since her disappearance. Rogers says it's believed Theris ate berries to stay alive. Rogers believes Theris was lost in the woods, as she was unfamiliar with the area.

Weird story with a GREAT ending! More than meets the eye here but the important part, her survival and recovery, makes the heart glad.

Get your BS meters out. This is a local story to me and it doesn't add up. Stay tuned.

My b.s. meter registered a slight reading on this as well....i must confess!
After four weeks in the woods, she looks better than I do after only a weekend of camping with my husband and kids!

A woman determined to see her loved ones again endured a harrowing ordeal for weeks in the woods of Bullock County. Her survival story is being called a miracle.

Lisa Theris, 25, of Louisville, had been missing for nearly a month when she emerged from the wood line on Highway 82 over the weekend and was spotted by someone driving by.

Deputies say she survived in the woods over three weeks- surviving on berries and mushrooms, and drinking from creeks and puddles.

Deputies say Theris was with Randall Wade Oswald and Manly Davis about the time she disappeared in mid-July
Both men have since been questioned in the Theris' case.
Though they face burglary charges the men have not been legally implicated in the Theris case.

Faulkner says it’s a miracle that Lisa Theris survived.
"I've been doing this now going on 15 years and I've never seen anything like it. Her will to live is incredible,” says Faulkner. “I hate to classify it as a mircale but it's a miracle."

As for new information ---- Faulkner will only say the whole story hasn't come out.
However -- he expects it to as the investigation continues.

Investigators say she was with two men who burglarized a hunting camp in Midway on July 17-18. Lisa Theris did not know they were going there to break into the lodge and steal things and didn’t want to be a part of it. The two men, Manley Davis and Randall Oswald have since been captured and charged.

"She’s not familiar with this area and apparently on the night she ran, she went into the woods at night and got lost. I just thank God that she’s alive,” the sheriff said.

None of this story makes any sense lol, but had to look her up on here after reading on another site and didn't know if it was true!

I'm wondering who took the picture above- because it looks for all the world like a selfie. Photographing a hospital patient is a huge HIPAA violation- so who took the pic?

Someone map the area where she showed up and see this "wilderness". There is no area you could not walk out of in a day. Berries and mushrooms? So she was savvy enough to know which mushrooms you can eat? Lost 50 pounds? I don't believe that for one minute. Unless she was 200 before the event, because her face does not at all look thin or drawn. AND - wasn't she supposed to be on medication? This, folks, is a scam story. Just watch.

I would expect that she would be dehydrated and sunburnt. Her lips don't even look dry. She looks somewhat thinner than the before photos I saw in the news but 50 lbs would be a significant amount of weight off of her.

What did her clothing look like? What condition were they in when she was found? Do her tan lines latch the clothing?

She looks like she used Ross Gellar's way of counting in a spray tan booth and kept getting her face before she could turn around. "1 Mississippi... 2 Mississippi... 3 MississiAGHHH!"

It's only a huge HIPAA violation if hospital staff took the photo and shared it without permission. If she gave permission, anyone can take her pic and share it.

[h=1]Alabama Woman Found Naked After Going Missing for a Month[/h]
Theris — a 25-year-old woman from Louisville, Alabama, who had been missing since July 18 — was naked and covered in a rash of bug bites and scratch marks. Her dark hair had become matted, and dirt had embedded deep beneath her nails.

“She said she ate berries and drank muddy water,” Garner said. “I gave her a hug and said, ‘You poor thing. You’ve been through a lot.’”
Theris was lethargic, and begged Garner not to leave her side.
“I don’t think she could have made it much longer,” Garner said.
Chief Anthony Williams, of the Bullock County Sheriff’s Department, was one of the first law enforcement officers to arrive on scene.
“That’s my first time ever witnessing someone in that condition,” Williams said.
An ambulance transported Theris to a nearby hospital where she has since been released to return to her family’s home in Louisville. Williams said none of Theris’ injuries were severe.

It appears her brother took the hospital picture: Theris' brother Will wrote on Facebook, along with a picture of his sister in the hospital: "28 days stranded out in the wilderness and Lisa is still standing, strongest person i know." In another post he wrote that having his sister home felt "like a dream."

Police said they plan to ask her more questions later Tuesday.

Here she is (center) in September 2015:
