Just today I watched the documentary Beware the Slenderman, I have not yet read through these threads, but it's so fascinating. I am curious where the case stands now, and will read through starting from the first thread 3 years ago. I hope the girls have started to heal, it was really a horrific story.

I couldn't watch the whole thing. I think I had to turn it off about about 30 minutes. :(

Lawyers in so-called Slenderman stabbing case ask that jury be sequestered

WAUKESHA — A Waukesha County judge heard arguments in a hearing on Monday, July 10th to get the jury in the Morgan Geyser trial to be sequestered.

The Geyser hearing was held Monday morning — and her attorneys presented their arguments. They say the publicity surrounding the case makes it difficult for jurors not to hear about it.

The judge then indicated he would take those arguments under advisement and issue his decision in about a week or two. Geyser’s trial is set for October.

(. . . )

:waiting:

I can't find it in my public library :(

This case haunts me......I am so glad the victim seems to have supportive parents, etc in her recovery...

Judges mean business in the courtroom. Bench warrants are immediate and The Court has lots of county deputies to immediately take action. I watched a trial where a witness called by the prosecution, but related to the defendant, did not show up for testimony. The judge immediately ordered deputies to bring her in for testimony -- a courtroom deputy left immediately, and she was on the stand the next morning. Exciting.

What is the possible sentence?

I don't understand this part. How can this possibly be determined by a jury??!!!!

The court accepted Weier’s guilty plea — and she was indeed found guilty of the amended charge. The court then indicated the case would move on to a second phase, where a jury would determine whether Weier is guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Defense must be presenting specialists to testify that Weier 'was or is' mentally ill. However, her testifying at last trial that she told the victim to lay down as she would bleed slower Makes me question her mental illness. That is pretty good thinking and advice. IMO she is hoping to get a mental vote, go to a mental hospital for 3 years and get out. If she does not get that vote then will she be given an adult sentence? Lots of questions.

Yes this gives me pause. I actually believe they both knew what they were doing and right from wrong.
