Yes, it really does look like the number 13. But photos / lighting and age can be really deceptive. Would we know after an autopsy? Would that be published?

British troops enjoying time off from duty rushed to the scene of the Las Vegas casino shooting giving life-saving first aid to those wounded.

Soldiers from the 1st Queen's Dragoon Guards, known as the Welsh Cavalry, were enjoying a rest and recuperation break after gruelling training at the Fort Irwin US Army base in California.

A source said: “Due to their experience, the guys who heard the noise knew instantly it was gunfire.

“Their training immediately kicked in and they rushed to the festival to help.
“All soldiers in the cavalry are given medical training designed to preserve life on the battlefield.

"The injuries they were seeing were the ones they are well versed in treating.

Las Vegas Shooter Stephen Paddock Had Recent Large Gambling Transactions
by Pete Williams, Tracy Connor and Kalhan Rosenblatt

The suspected gunman behind the Las Vegas massacre made several large gambling transactions in recent weeks, according to multiple senior law enforcement officials and a casino executive.

On multiple occasions, Stephen Paddock gambled more than $10,000 per day — and in some cases amounts greater than $20,000 and $30,000 — at Las Vegas casinos, according to an NBC News source who read the suspect's Multiple Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and a casino gaming executive.

According to a U.S. statute, a CTR is a Treasury- and IRS-mandated report that casinos have to file when "each transaction in currency involving cash-in and cash-out of more than $10,000 in a gaming day."

It was not immediately clear if those transactions were losses or wins...

New York Times:

Stephen Paddock, Las Vegas Suspect, Was a Gambler, a Cipher, a ‘Lone Wolf’

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/02/us/stephen-paddock-vegas-shooter.html

“Where the hell did he get automatic weapons? He has no military background or anything like that,” the brother said. “When you find out about him, like I said, he’s a guy who lived in a house in Mesquite and drove down and gambled in Las Vegas.”

Apologies if this was already posted and I missed it.

Registered nurse died shielding wife in Las Vegas mass shooting

Heather Melton, an orthopaedic surgeon, told NBC affiliate WSMV her husband saved her life. "He saved my life. He grabbed me and started running when I felt him get shot in the back," she said. "I want everyone to know what a kind-hearted, loving man he was, but at this point, I can barely breathe."

Had to register just to ask why this isn't getting more play, I know they ruled out it wasnt the Danley lady, she is out of country but who was running around "warning" people?

Welcome here! Strange report. I kind of think it was either coincidence or just a mix up of the timing of events. In other words the shooting might have already started by the time the woman was yelling. But in people's traumatized minds, it happens long before.

It really doesn't make sense that terrorists would be in the crowd warning people about a massacre about to start that would also put them at risk.

Las Vegas: 'We helped three gunshot victims'

"As we tried to make our way out of the parking lot a security guard flagged us down. He had two gun shot victims with him."We got them in the back of the truck. One had been shot in the head the other in the ankle, both were conscious.

"We tried to get out of the area as fast as possible but it was chaos, people were running everywhere and into the road."

Crystal wanted to get the wounded to a hospital but they didn't get far before being flagged down to help another injured concert goer.

Have a cousin who grew up and still lives in the Vegas area...her facebook is full of folks posting photos of their relatives and friends, trying to find them. A huge task with 500 wounded and lots with no ids on them. Just so sad seeing all the happy faces in the photos...

My apologies for saying it was an Islamist attack. I was reading a British newspaper and the Islamic State declared responsibility. Turns out the fellow was just a nut.

Lauren Gambino, reporting from Washington DC, attended a press conference by former Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who survived a 2011 shooting that killed six and injured more than a dozen others.

“What we’re hearing today at the Capitol and the White House are thoughts and prayers,” her husband, said Mark Kelly said, in remarks delivered outside the Capitol.

“Your thoughts and prayers aren’t going to stop the next shooting. Only action and leadership will do that.”

Miss Nevada Sweetheart (from the Miss America pageant system) and her mother were both shot last night. Paige Melanson has been discharged from the hospital. Her mother is in ICU.

Prayers for all.

I worded that incorrectly, Whitman killed 14, in 96 minutes. I just meant if the tables were turned and Paddock had the same amount of time as Whitman, it is unimaginable how many he could have murdered. Whitman was a former Marine Sharpshooter so I guess he was able to target folks from a distance.

No. You worded it perfectly. He had 96 minutes to kill 14 people. I would think that after the first few minutes the area would be on lockdown. Unless subsequent people being killed were those trying to assist the people who had been shot.
