Most people who need a payday loan do not care about the interest rate, they just need cash asap.

The loan thing is really bizarre too. The place would likely only give him a loan for the amount equal to his next check which was probably not a whole lot considering where he worked.

If he was planning on purchasing a plane ticket then maybe that was his plan because I think certain destinations are not too expensive. Flying from Florida to Vegas or NYC may have fairly cheap one way fares.

It is so bizarre. Maybe he wasnt thinking rationally and maybe felt the walls closing in around him. I am sure someone will recommend a doctor to see if his mental state is normal or not.

Yep, but I just seemed strange that he apparently wanted to do that. His family is not poor ? Or didn't he want to ask them for a loan ?

The weight of a gun is usually pretty heavy. And I think previous reports indicated the gun used in the killings was a large weapon so I think it must have weighed quite a bit.

If I had received a bag then from the heavy weight alone I would have knew something like a gun could be in it. The whole episode would have raised their suspicouns as it sounds really bizarre.

Which is why a lot of us think he maybe wanted to get caught. Maybe subconcously. Almost like suicide by cop without the suicide or shooting part. :)

In another case, I would think he wanted to be caught.

In this case, however, I don't think so. I think he loved the risk. I think he was having a good time giving her that bag with instructions not to look....and would've have an even better time when he returned to the McDs to get it back from her. He likes taking risks right under people's noses and getting away with tricks and crimes.

That's my armchair analysis.

Watch the video of him posted above - he's walking at the police station. He is lean with perfect posture - those are traits from the previous videos. I totally see the resemblance.

I bet there are some videos of him running down the basketball court too. That would be an interesting comparison.

He's a college grad from a good college. Good-looking, seems healthy. Would seem to have everything going for him.

He lost a job recently. He's spiraling down for whatever reason. It's possible his family said or implied that it was time for him to make his own way in the world, but...he couldn't manage it.

He certainly knew how to get a job and keep it, how to get a bank account and deposit funds....but yet didn't do it. I think it's a case, as mentioned above, of an intelligent person who just can't live up to potential as a young adult....and more importantly, doesn't have the inner stamina to overcome setbacks. Instead of try-try-again to build their lives, they turn to destruction.

You could be right.

If your hypothesis is right then maybe he was doing things rapidly and maybe he didnt expect a delay at the loan office. They may have taken longer than he expected and by the time he got back LE was already notified in the McDs. Maybe he thought he could rush over and get a check and quickly get his bag back and take off.

Its like someone else said. When you are dealing with someone who is willing to murder random people then there is no telling what their thoughts and actions will be. They are not acting normal to begin with so its hard to predict what his thoughts were.

And doing tricks with the basketball like players can do so well. He could flip around his cellphone because he had skills from playing ball, imo.

I'm not convinced he was intending to take off. Of course, I don't know for sure. Maybe we'll get confirmation that was ready to flee, but I don't think so. I think he was playing a game and had no intention to stop.

Total speculation and hunch, not fact.

For the Facebook sleuths was it any of the guys you though it was?

That earlier video link with the female reporter interviewing a witness at the McDs seemed to say that the perp told them not to do anything until he was "gone". If I heard it right. Seemed to imply to me that he was going to take off once he got back.

There would be no video of him playing basketball with St. Johns's because while he was with the team, he never got in a game---Just was a "bench-warmer"

Could very well be.

I still think the perp was a game player and this was part of it.

But this move could have been his "game over" move. Exit and out. IDK.

I have to wonder if the loan store maybe has a metal detector alarm and maybe that is why he couldnt bring the gun with him into the loan store.

Still doesnt explain why he didnt just put the gun in the car though.

Those loan stores are usually pretty secure with video cameras and stuff so I would not be surprised if it had a metal detector at the door.

I don't follow basketball so I don't know what "walk-on player" means...

A walk-on is a player who was not actively recruited beforehand or awarded an athletic scholarship. This results in the differentiation between "walk-on" players and "scholarship" players.

Like others, I thought it was someone who lived outside the area but worked/lived nearby. Some speculated he had a job nearby working a late shift that made it easy for him to go into the area late at night and not appear suspicious. Athletic, yep.

Too lazy to go to the car. Maybe his work uniform was in there too. Why bring the gun in the restaurant though. This is the mistake that the police were talking about but it would take someone snopping in his bag to find out he had it. Really who looks in peoples bags? Although in this case it is a good thing.
