Any estimates for how long it would take for a case like this to go to trial? I’m new to following cases so was surprised by the three years rule against trying to contact children.... I assumed they’d be convicted well before then.

It could take that long to go to trial. Police found a dead body on my kids' godfather property. He was arrested for murder and held on those charges until they found the guy who actually did it. Now our family friend is a key witness in the trial, though not a suspect. This happened 5 years ago and we're still waiting to go to trial. It's been rescheduled and postponed a dozen times. The McStay family is another one that keeps getting pushed back. I realize that these are murder cases but sometimes the court system in general is slow. (And that's IF this goes to trial at all. They could suddenly decide to accept a plea bargain. I don't think that's likely but it's a possibility.)

I saw an article that mentioned Kate Plus 8 shortly after reading that show mentioned here. The article went so far as to say investigators found Kate Plus 8 DVDs in the collection. It made me want to go back and find the close up pics to see if the K's were shown to verify.

Regardless, LE appears to not believe the reality show idea.

I get the complete opposite vibe. From what little we have seen I saw hints of her controlling things and him being a subordinate.

For example in one of the Elvis video where she forcefully controlled his attempt at kissing her after Elvis said to kiss the bride.

The whole video I sensed he was along for the ride while she google eyed Elvis and was sucking up the whole experience.

The reports of her spitting as she was being escorted to be arrested.

The reports of her taking her boy to school and waiting outside the classroom

The reports of her pooh poohing the boys attempt to have a "friend" from the class, driving away, and then he was not in class again after that.

Nothing definite to prove much and they BOTH have been equally charged with crimes in this case. Its just I get the sense she may have been more of a control freak with the kids than he was was.

I may be getting that vibe just from appearance too.

Oh, I think she’s super controlling. I am not disputing that. My point was that I’m not convinced everything was orchestrated by her or “originally” orchestrated by her.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that 27-28yo DT pursued 16yo LT and now they’re children don’t look older than 16 + lewd act.

Both DT LT need to rot in hell.

I'm hopelessly behind on reading WSl threads. Have WSl posters commented on how SURELY the kids' journals are going to all be twisted, because they were all just writing what the parents wanted them to write - I bet the journals will be 'fairy tale fantasies of how happy we are in our Disneyland lives with our WONDERFUL parents !'.

I apsolutely agree. A whole lot of hope is being put into what these victims wrote. Parents would have stifled it immediately.

What is WSI? I doubt we get to read the kids journals. Can't comment on them we hear what's in them. But so far I am confused how if they were so not in touch with outside world and so forth.... how would they know how to write detailed journals of being tortured? Seems like its trying to be argued both ways.

That doesn't really answer my question. There is no reason that being secluded would prevent them from being able to write in journals. A lot of people throughout history who have been locked up have written journals. There's just not a reason to think that's in conflict with being in seclusion.

I'm unclear on what you mean that it's being argued both ways. They did receive some homeschooling, and we've been told they were allowed to read and write.

While officials have said that they expect the journals to help provide details, no one has said that they are a detailed record of torture (your words).

Thats exactly right and they BOTH have serious charges against them.

Either one of them could have stopped the other one by making a simple call to LE and they didnt which tells us they both were in on the abuse of the kids.

I hope the DA doesnt allow one of them to get a better plea deal or anything by testifying against the other one.

My feeling is they both should be equally punished because either one of them could have stopped the obvious systematic abuse of the kids for their whole lives.

This case is one of the most horrible cases I have seen come up here and that says a lot because we have had some pretty horrific cases. Even though no body was killed (that we know of) the damage that was done was practically equal to a murder IMO.

Different neighbor than the one across street who had contact with. That one told of kids looking younger and of LT saying they took kids to Vegas when 21, which does match up with ages at 2 times went.

This is another CNN Jan 18. Jmho yet she wasn't concerned in 2015? But is now? Jmho kinda like the Elvis videos, no one was alarmed or thought anything wrong then either. Would only be a month or so after Vegas.

Our 5:00pm news carried the story showing the judge issuing the ruling and the expressions on DT and LT's faces. Their faces were pretty much blank. I suspect the defense attorneys probably told them what to expect, so the judge's ruling wasn't a surprise. That was it. I didn't even notice what they were wearing.
