The heartbroken father of a student who has been missing for 15 years has appealed for those who know what happened to his daughter to come forward.

Iwona Kaminska vanished in July 2000, just four days after arriving in England from Poland.

More than a decade on, police now fear she may have been kidnapped and murdered.

Aged 20 at the time, cold case cops from the Metropolitan Police have offered a £10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution for whoever is responsible for her disappearance or murder.

Ms Kaminska arrived in London on 9 July and quickly found a job at a Polish-owned business on King Street in Hammersmith, west London.

She was staying with a friend who lived near the Arndale Centre in Wandsworth, and was seen on CCTV leaving for work on the morning of 13 July.

Ms Kaminska spent the day packing glasses and was due to meet a friend at 19:00 BST in Wandsworth, but never turned up.

She would have been expected to catch the 220 bus from Hammersmith bus station.

Ms Kaminska was described as white, 5ft 2in (157cm) tall, slim and with light brown, shoulder-length hair. She was last seen wearing dark trousers and a dark green knee-length jacket, and carrying a small black leather handbag.


Her family in Modliborzyce, Poland, said her birthday was on 22 January "and she should be celebrating turning 36".

She is briefly mentioned in another thread here with regards to disappearance of other girls in the area in the same time frame.

I have seen this mentioned in few news articles that Bellfield is somehow connected to Iwona Kaminski disappearance. I am really curious why those statements as apart of the time frame I don't see any connection yet.

Now, two serial killers were living in the same vicinity and were active at the same time were Elizabeth and Lola disappeared. Few minutes to the East were they were last seen was Andrzej Kunowski at Acton/Ealing Common and just few minutes to the West was Bellfield in West Drayton.

With regards to Iwona Kaminski, Andrzej Kunowski seems stronger suspect. They are both Polish nationals and Kunowski has murdered 12 year old girl in 1997 in Hammersmith. The same neighbourhood Iwona was last seen in 2000.

Thank you for the link. Interestingly writer is saying that Elizabeth Chau was in spot of trouble (what kind?) and was last spotted outside of West Ealing police station making call at nearby payphone.

As per this book apparently Iwona Kaminska went to police station as well prior to her disappearance. It does not state where or why. I have not heard of this statement anywhere else. I wonder if author is just creative or if this is correct information. Unfortunately book preview just cut off at this point.
 
According to Iwona's family, there is no evidence of her ever leaving her workplace, but questioning her boss, searching his car and his shop didn't provide any answers. He was friends with the girl who invited Iwona to England. I wonder if the police questioned her.
Krzysztof Jackowski, Poland's famous clairvoyant, claims that Iwona is alive and held captive somewhere. Now, I am sceptical about this kind of statement, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
Iwona Kamińska's family never stopped looking for her. 18 years without any answers is way too long. I can't even imagine what they're going through and I hope they can get closure one day.

That comment says: "That business owner should be questioned in every possible way, old pr*ck is definitely involved in her disappearance, because the CCTV recorded her going to work, but she was never seen leaving it".
Basically, that poster suggests that Iwona's boss could be responsible for her disappearance.

Iwona was planning her first ever summer holiday. Her female friend she has used to live with while studying suggested that they both go to London. She also stated that she will arrange job for Iwona with her good Polish friend at a shop for their little extra spendings. It was supposed to be two weeks holiday.

Iwona knew her family was very worried so she called them every day first three days. On third day she also send them postcard and arranged with her older sister that she will come to London in a week to visit her. They were both excited.

Iwona was very happy and excited in new city.

Fourth Day: Iwona went to work in Hammersmith, job her friend arranged. It was shop with crystal glass. She was helping older Polish man who came to London from Lodz. All what is only known about him that he was good friend of Iwona's friend from studies.

Around 4pm she had appointment with friends. She did not arrive and also did not come home where she stayed, at her female friend at Arndale Center in Wandsworth. Nobody ever heard from her again.

Polish police contacted Iwona's family about her disappearance. Family contacted Iwona's friend who she travelled with and lived in London. She stated she does not know anything.

London police searched the shop, owner's car and even digged up flooring of the shop. Nothing was found.

Family tried to hire private investigator in Poland, it was stated that they do not investigate abroad. They hired clairvoyant, who also gave up when family asked him to travel with them to London. They tried to hire private investigators in London, but it was way too expensive for them to afford. Missing flyers all over London, Itaka, Interpol and London police brought no leads.

Family theory: They think Iwona's disappearance was not coincidence. That all was arranged, from the beginning to the end and Iwona stood no chance.

Every year, on the day of 13th of July, when Iwona disappeared, family holds mass for her in local church.

There are few conflicting information in different media about details.

CCTV - some state she was seen arriving in the morning to Hammersmith. Some state CCTV was from Hammersmith bus station in the morning, some state CCTV was from main shopping street, some state CCTV was from morning in Wandsworth.

It was confirmed that she was at work on that day, 13th of July 2000. (It would be good to find out if this was her actual first day at work in a shop or if she was there in any of the previous days).

Conflicting information in media what time she left work (4pm or 5pm) and what time she had appointment with friends (4pm or 7pm).

She was not detected on CCTV Hammersmith bus station in the afternoon/evening hours leaving the area.

To clarify - female friend she lived with in Arndale Center in Wandsworth, London, was the one who she arranged to visit in London and the one who arranged her job at shop. Even though Iwona studied theology, they knew each other from studying English in Poland and lived together there while studying. Girl was also the one who filed missing person report in London for Iwona after she did not arrive home.
 
West London disappearances

22 May 1997 - Katerina Koneva, 12 (Macedonian) - stalked on the way home from school and then murdered in Hammersmith (3 women in Hammersmith come forward to police to complain about being stalked by A.Kunowski prior to Katerina's murder)

16th April 1999 - Elizabeth Chau, 19 ( English of Vietnamese descent), last seen in West Ealing 5 min away from home
3rd January 2000 - Lola Shenkoya, 27 (Born in USA, Nigerian), last seen Ealing Broadway station, getting off the bus

13th July 2000 - Iwona Kaminska, 20 - Hammersmith


Below mentioned cases do not seem to be connected to above missing

18th October 2000 - Sinead Healy, 26 - Hammersmith - body located 5 month later, ex bf convicted

6th December 2000 - Zoe Parker, 24 - prostitute, last seen in Hounslow, West London. Body located on Dec 17th in River Thames at Battersea next to Church Road (close to Wandsworth), body was cut in half at the waist

13 December 2000 - Paula Fields, 31- prostitute, from Highbury Grove - body, cut into several pieces, was discovered in a number of holdalls at Regents Canal at Camden, located February 2001

September 2001 - John Doe named Adam - torso of a boy, aged five or six discovered near Tower Bridge in east London. From minerals in his bones it was established that he was from west Africa
