GUILTY FL - Tayla Aleman, 13 months, dies of extreme neglect, Loxahatchee, April 2016 *Arrests*

Hmmm..... just tried to search for Kristen Meyer-Aleman and she's not there??

:dunno:

K - went back and looked under just "Meyer" as a last name. She's there - same court dates as the a$$hole above!

Why is it in so many of these awful neglect cases - and this is one of the worst I have read - that the parents look like they've never missed a meal in their life, despite the children being starved?

So what is going to happen on January 18th? Can a person be absent from jury selection? I don't know how the system works in USA and I can't seem to find any info for the 18th.

Not sure "where" you are getting the date of January 18th, maybe your fingers were on the wrong keys. Next hearing is a "Status Check Hearing" on January 29th.

:bump: up for hearing today:

Monday, January 29th:
*Status Hearing (@ 8:30am ET) - FL - Tala Aleman (13 mos) (April, 2016) - Alejandro Aleman (39) & Kristen Meyer-Aleman (43) accused & indicted of 1st degree murder; DA seeks DP.

Tayla and her siblings remind me of the 13 Turpin children recently in the news.

Seems like the Turpins have been receiving more publicity but these cases seem similiar imo.

I really hope Tayla's siblings are getting the help they deserve.

Idk if the link will work, you probably have to go through the start of the site if it’s like other court sites I’ve used https://applications.mypalmbeachclerk.com/eCaseView/search.aspx

Roughly the same for Kristen, she’s listed under the last name Meyer and these were under “Dockets and Documents”

Happy to. These kids haven’t left my thoughts since the start. I hope the survivors are with wonderful, loving caregivers.

Next court hearing for Alejandro & Kristen:

07/23/2018 08:29 AM STCK - STATUS CHECK

Oh my word! I spent a good portion of today reading this case and the 250+ documents with it.
My takeaway is IMO the Mother (Kristen) says she was feeding the baby but Tay didn't act hungry and wanted to sleep well I'm sure she did. The poor angel didn't have the strength to nurse a bottle. I know Tay wasn't premature in fact she was a healthy 8lbs and odd ounces but my daughter was premature and although she never needed NICU the one thing I had to do was massage her jaw every 2 hours to try and hopefully get an ounce of formula in her because as the nurse explained my lil was too weak and the effort to feed literally wore her out and given the choice she would've just slept instead and so she needed stimulation to build her jaw muscles and sucking reflexes.
Alex and Kristen do not take responsibility for this they seem to think they've done nothing wrong to the kids or the dog. Moo
Alex hinted that because of the mother's age at birth Tay may have passed from some unknown condition. I have no idea how the other 9 kids survived till they were rescued but bless them they've been put through so much by the 2 people who were supposed to love them unconditionally and protect them from dangers. I'll have to go back and read I know they charged them both with first degree murder but I hope they go for the DP.
Just my thoughts after reading this horrific case.
ETA : Also during Kristen's 3 hours interview she stated that couple of times that Tayla was different but that she treated her like all her other kids. Does anyone have an opinion on what she's meaning? I've thought of a couple different scenarios but her actions don't follow my train of thought
TIA

Thank you I'm not a huge fan of the DP but they certainly deserve it. Wic, Food Stamps, and Medicaid and they couldn't feed them or take them to the Dr. I hope the 9 other children with speech impediments have progressed. My own 7 yr old has been in speech for 3 years and I can tell you when we couldn't understand her she would get so frustrated and angry. She made great progress in the first few months alone. ( They believe hers may have to do with her jaw muscles and tongue muscles not fully forming before she was born premature) Hopefully these children can put this behind them and thrive

Wow. My heart goes out to the surviving siblings. This post is going to be rambly, so bear with me here.
The first thing I noticed was that all of the siblings had names starting with 'T'. All of the Turpins had 'J' names... This stuck out to me. It's probably just coincidence, but... Wow.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, one of the older siblings said that some of the other siblings were as thin and sickly as Tayla but 'grew out' of it. Makes me afraid that at least a few of the survivors were starved as babies and somehow managed to pull through (maybe until they didn't need a bottle).

Lastly, the speech impediments. This hits home for me because I still struggle with one to this day (mine is caused by a neurological issue). I started speech therapy early but my speech will never be completely 'normal', even though it got a lot better as I've gotten older. It just seems weird to me that all but one had speech impediments (if I remember correctly, nothing was stated about one of the older brothers having a speech impediment while all of the others were listed as such). Did the 'parents' not talk to them and they ended up picking up their speech patterns from their older siblings? I wonder if one of them (the oldest?) actually has a speech impediment caused by neurological problems or some sort of palate/jaw deformity and the others speak the way they do because they learned from their sibling. I think the second oldest is the one who doesn't have a speech impediment, so maybe the oldest two received some more attention from their parents.

Maybe I'm thinking way too hard about this. All speculation on my part, of course.
