In the Groene case the perp who killed everyone except the two little kids he kidnapped (Shasta and Dylan), he was a ruthless serial killer and enjoyed brutality.

In the case of an Ohio 13 year old girl who went missing, along with her mom, brother, dog and family friend, the deranged perp killed her mom, brother, family friend and dog, dismembered them and hid their bodies in a hollowed out tree. E kept her chained in his basement on a bed of leaves.

He claimed it was a burglary gone wrong but I think it's clear he had been fantasizing about murdering people and likely wanted to take the girl.

Why kill everyone? Well they probably think it helps them avoid detection.

But for some monsters it's part of the "fun."

I think it would be interesting/helpful to have a list of these similar crimes and note who the perps were:

How old were they? How far did they live from the home? Did they have a criminal history? What was their motive(s)? Were they known to the family? Did they have previous contact with the family? Was this single, dual or multiple perps? Did the perp use drugs? Were the victims kept alive and if so for how long? What MO/disposal method did they use? Etc, etc.

I started with Hannah Anderson’s case last night. Perp was 40, known to the family well, had contact with them the day before, lived an hour away. I’m not sure about criminal history as I just begun a cursory study.

I would like to take 10 comparable cases for this data comparison/study. Please feel free to contribute to this any input. Thanks in advance.

I lived up there and have been on Highway 8 more times than I can count, due to the casino there is always cars driving in both directions all hours of the night. Not heavy traffic but usually I would say I would see at least 10 cars either going to or coming from the direction of the casino and Barron. (In 15 to 20 minutes) Hwy 8 crosses with US hwy 53 which is definitely a more used hwy for the northern part of western WI. 53 will get you all the way from Superior, WI to Eau Claire, WI. Once in Eau Claire it exits to I-94 which brings you either towards the Twin Cities in MN or to southern Wisconsin where it merges with I-90 to bring you to Madison, WI or Chicago, IL. Sorry if I started to ramble.
Can you give a little history on the casino? Is it open 24 hours, how far from the road, how large, etc. It sounds like, from the call logs, that LE contacted the casino for video surveillance records because it specifically stated that LE contacted casino security. Are there cameras on the building that may have captured a shot of the road?

Skipped from page 9 to now....obviously nothing new just the same theories rehashed page after page.....

Really wish we had something new to go by.
I went to radar online for the latest info. But the ad pop ups are too overwhelming for me to want to continue. I will simply wait for future copy and pastes by posters here. :(

I've been thinking of the Hannah Anderson case as well. It could be something similar, but perhaps in this case Jayme had no idea how the perp thought of her, ykwim?

Is this a joke? I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, went to catholic school and church and had a casino 20 min nearby. I can guarantee everyone went to the casino regardless of what the church said. And nobody talked about it because it was normal. I don't think the church's comment has any indication as to who James Closs was.
Apparently a regional difference because that would not be the case at all in the Southern states.

Question out of curiosity:

Did Israel Keyes ever commit a crime(s) similar to this?

I managed to circle the camera on the building corner next to the front entrance at St. Croix Casino.

Here's the photo. You will see the camera circled in pink.

BTW: Please don't mind the sheep on the bottom of the photo :p They are my screen pets.

I agree. Or, maybe they were out that night (or at home) and someone local said to them something like "There are a bunch of cop cars at James and Denise's place. What is going on?" and then they went in person to check it out.

speculation only, jmo, wish we knew more
Agree. Its so dark in the country that sirens are probably seen from miles away. Plus doesn't the house sit by a main road or something?

How do we know this for sure? Many factories around me run production 24/7. My husband, as an IT guy, had to work 3rd shift sometimes because the production line was rolling at night at the factory he was assigned to. Therefore, even IT support had to be available 24/7.

Also, I don't think we've found a source yet that makes it absolutely certain what his role at the factory was.
Jennio-O Turkey Store is owned by Hormel. I worked there when I was younger and 3rd shift is for cleaning and sanitizing, it's been a long time but I'm sure that's still the process.

If Jayme has been taken by raging meth heads then I am losing all hope they will find this shy sweet little girl alive. But this is something they are capable of doing.

I pray this is NOT who has murdered her parents and kidnapped her.

Just the thought of that horrid possibilty makes my heart hurt.

Time for me to take another break. That mere possibilty is just too much for me to handle now. Bblo....

Praying for Jayme.

Hi everyone,

I've been following this case and a few others (the Chris and Shanann Watts case in Colorado, for one) and recognize some of your names from there as well.

Does anyone think there's a possibility that Jayme managed to run out of the house and wasn't abducted? They seemed to indicate really early on that this is an abduction, so I'm curious if anything has been said about what clues they may have had. I wondered if one or both of her parents told her to run, or if she just did so on her own. At that hour of the night and given the intensity of the situation, she probably wouldn't have had a coat or warm clothing on, possibly not even any shoes. If she ran through the woods she could have hurt herself, or worse, succombed to hyperthermia. Thinking about a recent case of a missing Maine teacher who was found deceased (from suicide, sadly) several days later, near her home and really not that far outside the radius they had searched. Hope they had/have tracking dogs in nearby dense areas looking for Jayme...

Hello. This thought crossed my mind as well but I would think they would have found her by now but we know how often someone can be missed in a search, etc.

Hi OBE,

You are in my notes from last night to write to here, as we have been following Diana Alvarez’ case together and she came to mind last night while thinking about Jayme (thank goodness the perp is in custody but what a shame Diana has still not been found).

Anyway I was thinking about her case—-do you remember the perp left the stove on to burn the house down while abducting and leaving with Diana...what was that exactly, do you remember? The reason why I ask is because if so this would classify as a (failed) attempt to murder the family while abducting a girl for sexual purposes. Also, he was a family friend whom they trusted and was known to all of them (as we found out later he had been sexually abusing Diana while staying their home).

I wonder if the Closs’ ever tried to help anyone out who was trying to get on their feet, had them stay over, and might have taken an interest in Jayme.

I would think LE would know though if they had overnight houseguests.

Has a reward been offered by Law Enforcement? I do not recall hearing about one. If not, why no reward?

I posted something last night in answer to this, but it got modsnipped. Hope it's okay to word it this way. FBI will let LE and the community know when the time is right to post a reward, and how to go about it

Did they ever find Diana?

I've been turning this over in my head trying to come up with a scenario that fits what little verified info we have. Someone is fixated on Jayme and has been observing long enough to know that there ware 2 cars in the family and who drives which one. He sees that the Dad's car is missing and assumes the Mom and Jayme are home alone. He brings a gun for intimidation only and has no real intention of using it. It's been said that many don't lock their doors in rural areas so he's able to walk in unimpeded and locks the door behind him. Jayme is in her room. Maybe she's drinking a cold soda. Mom is in the living room watching tv/reading with her cell phone on a table. Perp walks in and points the gun at Mom and says just cooperate and you won't get hurt. Jayme hears the commotion and comes out. He forces them in to the bathroom and secures mom to a chair. While he's doing this the Dad pulls up in the driveway and goes to the front door but it's locked. Mom and Jayme start yelling to him and he kicks in the door. Now the perp, who I think is young, starts to panic and immediately shoots the Dad. The impact of the shot spins him around so it later appears that he was *inside* the door when shot. Mom and Jayme start screaming and he turns his attention to the Mom. Jayme is able to grab her mom's cell phone and dials 911. Mom is screaming at the perp, who has the gun pointed at her "You don't have to do this." Jayme is screaming "we need help." The perps sees Jayme with the phone and knocks it out of her hand and proceeds to shoot the Mom. What was heard on the phone by 911 was "you don't have to do this" followed by "we need help" causing them to think someone was attempting suicide. The perp grabs Jayme and drags her through the woods to a car which he had parked there earlier. He forces her in the trunk and drives to a remote cabin he'd prepared beforehand.

That's the best I can come up with using known facts. I'd be interested in exploring this with all of you.
