This series of events can be seen as another attempt at voter suppression. Fear keeps voters home.

These weren’t targeting the public, they were targeting the politicians themselves.

I doubt people are going to be staying home because of this, as the public itself wasn’t the direct target.

I’m still waiting to see if there were explosives in these devices, and what they were. C4 is much scarier than gunpowder, but both are deadly.

This is going to get confusing.

Someone was organized in making a chaos of addresses, return addresses, misspellings/mistakes, functional explosive or not, etc.

IMO, this is going to be a tangled web that made sense to someone who wove it.

I suggest changing the name of this thread. The devices were sent to several locations, not just the Clintons and Obamas. Perhaps a more generic thread title would be appropriate?

You are, regrettably, wrong. When individuals see public figures attacked, it increases their own sense of vulnerability as they have not the equal power. Less power, more vulnerable.

People are responsible for their own actions. Bernie Sanders is no more responsible for the Congressional Baseball shooting, than this president is for some wackjob sending out bombs.

It’s now ok to harass and threaten politicians in restaurants.

This has been brewing for a long time, and it’s not getting any better.

People are responsible for their actions but we may be dealing with a person or group that may be easily swayed or have a mental illness.
Case in point...yesterday a woman was groped on a plane. Male said that it was okay because Trump said it was okay.
Just the other day it was said that physically tackling the media made the person 'my kind of guy'
Every day Trump is on a tear regarding the media and democrats.
He needs to stop before he actually causes innocent people to be injured or killed.
No matter what he says today...he will no doubt be at it again at the next rally.
Words and actions matter. IMO

Statement on the FBI’s Investigation of Suspicious Packages

Between October 22 and 24, 2018, suspicious packages were received at multiple locations in the New York and Washington, D.C., areas and Florida. The packages are being sent for analysis at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia.

“This investigation is of the highest priority for the FBI. We have committed the full strength of the FBI’s resources and, together with our partners on our Joint Terrorism Task Forces, we will continue to work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible for sending these packages,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “We ask anyone who may have information to contact the FBI. Do not hesitate to call; no piece of information is too small to help us in this investigation.”

The packages are similar in appearance, as depicted in the below photograph, and contain potentially destructive devices.

The packages were mailed in manila envelopes with bubble wrap interior. The packages were affixed with computer-printed address labels and six Forever stamps. All packages had a return address of “DEBBIE WASSERMAN SHULTZ” [sic] in Florida. Packages identified to date were addressed to:

• George Soros
• Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
• Former President Barack Obama
• Former CIA Director John Brennan, care of CNN
• Former Attorney General Eric Holder

The package addressed to former Attorney General Holder did not reach its intended destination, but was rerouted to the return address in Florida.

The FBI will continue to work with our federal law enforcement partners at the United States Secret Service, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as our state and local law enforcement partners, to identify and arrest the person or people responsible for sending these packages.

It is possible that additional packages were mailed to other locations. The FBI advises the public to remain vigilant and not touch, move or handle any suspicious or unknown packages.

If you have information about these packages, please contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov. If you observe any suspicious activity that requires an immediate response, please call 911 or contact your local law enforcement.​

There's nothing new about that - it is always thus, regardless of who's in the White House. The difference now is that political violence is being encouraged and while most Americans still realize it's not okay, plenty of people (both sides) will take it literally. To expect otherwise is reckless and foolish.

And they were all 'sent' in such a way that they would never have been delivered to the supposed targets. All were clearly going to be discovered quickly. That should be noted.
