Authorities are still searching for a missing 75-year-old Troup County woman, who hasn’t been seen since Friday afternoon.

Sgt. Stewart Smith with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office said Carol Evans, who suffers from an “altered mental state,” was inside her home on Lower Lovelace Road in West Point when her husband went to cut grass Friday around 2 p.m. When her husband returned, she was no longer there.

“We believe she left the house on foot and got disoriented and was not able to make it back to the house,” Smith said.

On Monday morning, the search will resume with specialized K-9 teams.
The sheriff’s office is not asking for any volunteers to participate in Monday’s search, since it could hamper the use of the K-9s.

No sign of missing Troup County woman

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for a West Point woman in the woods in the southern part of the county.

Law enforcement officials believe she left her home on foot and did not return, stated TCSO officials.

The 75-year-old woman also suffers from the late stages of an altered mental status and may be confused about where she is, TCSO officials added.

What in the world? I thought I misread the title.

This doesn't look good. If she just wandered away show should've been found by now.

ETA Where are you, Carol Evans?

Troup Co Sheriff James Woodruff announced Sunday that a weeklong effort by his deputies, volunteers, first responders, K9 units and many others have failed to locate a missing 75-year-old woman.

Since then searchers on the ground and in the air, using dogs, drones and helicopters have scoured the area where they believe she should've been. But, so far, they've found no sign of her.

Sunday, in a statement on Troup Co. Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Sheriff Woodruff said,

"Unfortunately after meeting with the family it has been determined that we have exhausted all of our resources and have looked in the most reasonable locations we and other search experts believe she should have been, had she walked away from the residence as we believed she did."

Woodruff denied he and his deputies are giving up, and urged the public to continue to send in information which might help find Mrs. Evans.

Sounds like they gave up on searching for her:

“Unfortunately after meeting with the family it has been determined that we have exhausted all of our resources and have looked in the most reasonable locations we and other search experts believe she should have been, had she walked away from the residence as we believed she did,” the Sheriff said in the release.

This will remain an active missing person case and investigators will continue to follow up with any leads.

If she just walked away on foot, wouldn’t the dogs have been able to pick up her scent? Especially since she was reported missing fairly shortly after she was last seen.
